Cameras are now rolling on Rupert Sanders' (Snow White and The Huntsman, Ghost in the Shell) The Crow reboot in the Czech Republic, and we have word on a new addition to the cast.

THR reports that veteran actor Danny Huston has signed on for a key role, though no details on his character were provided. Given the Wonder Woman and X-Men Origins: Wolverine star's track record, we'd say there's a pretty good chance he's playing a villain!

Huston joins It actor Bill Skarsgård as Eric Draven, and Tahliah Debrett Barnett, better known as FKA Twigs, as his fiancée Shelly Webster.

In James O’Barr's acclaimed comic series, Draven and Shelly are brutally murdered by a gang of thugs when their car breaks down. One year later, he is resurrected by a mystical force in the form of a crow, and sets out to exact his vengeance.

Multiple filmmakers have attempted to get a retelling of this gothic tale off the ground over the years, and while some fans were happy to hear that this re-adaptation was given a new lease of life, the news was not be met with a particularly enthusiastic response from everyone. Many feel Alex Proyas’ 1994 take on the material starring the late Brandon Lee did a perfect job of adapting the story and should be left alone.

Zach Baylin wrote the script for the reboot, with Molly Hassell (Braven, Terminal), Victor Hadida (Resident Evil and Silent Hill franchises), John Jencks (Honest Thief, Guns Akimbo), and Edward R. Pressman on board as producers.

No official release date has been set.

Cool. I didn’t realize this was already in production. Look forward to seeing it, I hope it’s good.

Good actor but if this is based off the original comic or movie then I hope he’s playing someone like the pawn shop clerk and not Top Dollar. 🤷‍♂️

@AnthonyVonGeek - no way they are wasting him on a pawn shop clerk

@dracula - If they're learning closer to the original story I'd argue that Top Dollar is a pretty wasted role, too. But then I'd also point out that there isn't much focus on characterization in that book at all.

He is an actor that I never used to care for for some reason. Not that he was a bad actor, and I can't place why, I just didn't like him. Thankfully that has changed, and I'm very happy to see him around.
(Anthony Mackie is another one that I couldn't stand at all. But after The Hurt Locker, and certainly The Winter Soldier, I love the damn guy. His press interviews with Sebastian Stan are freaking hysterical.)

@dracula - The soundtrack to The Crow was fantastic and I am not even a fan of that type of music.

The original film is a classic and in my personal top 3 of all time. So far what I’m hearing and based on all the previously failed reboot attempts, I have a feeling this is going to be a train wreck.

I’ll give it a chance for the sake of being a fan of The Crow, but not a single thing that’s been announced so far gives me the slightest shred of confidence that this is going to turn out well.

Fingers crossed it does, but regardless it’ll never be better than Brandon Lee’s version.

@MuadDib - I like saarsgard as Eric, but that’s about it so far. Danny Huston could be good too but depends on who he is playing.

Danny Huston is one of those actors that everyone loves but I've just never found that compelling.

@MUTO123 - I see what you mean, but you should check out The Proposition (if you haven't already). He's excellent in that one.
