In this video clip from MTV, actor Sam Worthington briefly touches on the rumored Clash of the Titans and Avatar sequels and then discusses his adaptation of Rick Remender's The Last Days of American Crime, published by Radical Publishing.
Regarding how literal the adaptation will be, Worthington said:
"I think that comes down to which director we get on board. I think for something primarily as graphic and violent and has a certain kind of style as Last Days does, at the moment we’re fleshing out more of the substance of it.
I am a big fan of 300, I thought that was great. But no one wants to go and emulate that. They have tried, and it didn’t work because audiences are too smart. We’ve got to find our own way of twisting that comic book into a great, innovative, original movie." Worthington made his comments at a press day for Full Clip Productions, a new comic book imprint that he helped launch, and said that his participation from the ground level will only help fuel creativity, which will be felt by the fans.
"We come from a cottage industry whether we’re making graphic novels in Australia or short films or major movies. You’re basically coming in from the get-go, and what that does is it gives you a bigger investment. We’re not in here as guns for hire or writing stuff that’s like a gravy train for young Samuel – that ain’t going to happen.
"[It’s] a case of, we can actually come in, have an investment from the very beginning, and then people will realize our passion for the story. That helps. Audiences are smart. They know if we’re just kind of going along for the ride and not putting in 100 percent. But going in at the ground level, you definitely feel your feet getting wet."
