This is the first review I've found for The Spirit. Apparently Frank Miller has decided to destroy his directing career.

It's one of the angriest reviews I've ever read. And this from someone who claims he was excited to see it going in, and went with an open mind.

There were some problems pointed out with the movie early on, and only highlighted in the trailer (bad use of wire on some stunts) but I never dreamed it would be THIS bad. Still I'll probably see it for Eva Mendez and Scarlett Johansson.

Here's a bit...

I won't bore you with too many details or jokes because my job is to inform you on the quality of a feature, not do stand-up comedy. 'The Spirit' is a film that no matter how bad it looked or how bad I heard it was I still went into with an open mind. I wound up getting my mind blown and not in the fashion I like. This film is a complete mess from frame one and not even worth the film it was recorded on which should be burned immediately to save the participants from further embarrassment.

yep, but how do we know it's not reverse psychology.

a lot of people go to see movies because they generally tend to disagree w/ the critics.

if they know they usually disagree w/ one particular critic, they'll go against what he says and see the movie thinking he'll like it.

now if you get a whole bunch of people like that, VOILA!, you've got yourself some cash.

then again, there are people who base their opinions about a movie on what the positive review say or whether they hear more negative or positive reviews....if you get enough positive reviews...more people will come in.

sometimes i think critic ratings are planted by the big corporations.

but i also think i'm going just a little too far w/ this....this is what you can do when you're sick during winter....just take time to think of conspiracy theories. lol

Dude, I read this review a few days ago, that guy was PISSED! He absolutely abored this film, and the way he just spoke of things was brutal as can be. I usually have to trust someone with that much absolute hatred towards a particular subject. Not saying that I might not like it, I'm not going to go see it even though Samuel L is in it. BUT, something like that has to have merit, not just because the guys a critic, but because of the amount of passion he put into his rant about EVERYTHING that went wrong with the film. It cracked me up.

The guy from latino reviews gets pissed over anything. He read the green lantern script and liked it except for the fact that he started going crazy merely because a meth dealer was described as latino in the script. he started threatening the writers and stating off facts of sterotypes i mean he really got pissed. In short the guy has a temper.

Well, this is pretty disappointing. I haven't read any of this other guy's stuff. How much of a comic book fan is he? How harsh is he typically on comic book movies? Even if he isn't, I was still hoping for at least a good movie. Oh, well. Seeing it anyways. ;x

Yeah, I read that rant too. It sounded like he had twenty years worth of angst all bottled up and released it on the first thing that minutely irritated him (it was actually pretty comical).
I may be the minority here, but I'm still thinking that I might wait to reserve judgement until I've seen it myself. I know the trailers look begrudgingly all too familiar (wink, wink), but I just want this movie to be good so badly that I think I may actually be in denial.
...so sad.

seriously people where snoring in the theater.

at times the snores and the surround sound where at war. kinda entertaining when you forget you paid to watch a snore chorus fight with wall speakers.

i vote: get a bootlegged version, paying to rent it would suck even more (unless they are renting out the theater version with real snore battles)

or just wait till some frustrated person throws their copy out their window. im sure it'll happen on your street at least once every week to two weeks. that is after its released, which wont be long.
