THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Begins Box Office Rollout With $15.7 Million Overseas Opening

Initial box office estimates pointed to Thor: Love and Thunder looking forward to a hefty $300+ opening weekend worldwide, and Taika Waititi's Ragnarok sequel is off to a very respectable start after taking in over $15 million following its first day on release overseas.

Variety reports that the latest Marvel Studios adventure made $15.7 million after debuting in 17 overseas markets, including Germany, Italy, Australia and Korea. Ticket sales are said to be pacing 39% ahead of Thor: Ragnarok, but 24% behind Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As it stands, Love and Thunder is expected to amass at least $145 million to $155 million in North America, and another $140 million to $150 million internationally.

Critics haven't been quite as responsive to Taika Waititi's comedic romp through the cosmos, and although reviews are far from negative overall, it has scored on the lower end of the MCU spectrum on Rotten Tomatoes (70%).

Have you managed to catch Thor: Love and Thunder yet? If so, what did you think? Be sure to let us know in the usual place.

Thor: Love and Thunder finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, Thor: Love and Thunder opens in theaters July 8, 2022.

Black Panther:Wakanda Forever vs Black Adam

@WakandaTech - BP, without a doubt

@WakandaTech - Black Panther will have more hype. Honestly I don't see many people really caring too much about Black Adam, and by the trailer it looks pretty terrible.

I'm just curious what they do with BP. Not replacing T'Challa with a new actor (which they should have done in the first place) they now have to tell a new story and go in a new direction that they weren't already planning.

My biggest concern is Shuri. She is not a very likable character and I have a feeling she will have a much larger role in BP.

@WakandaTech - the real question is how many Oscars will BP2 be nominated for due to "social progress".

@MUTO123 - James Caan once said that his acting technique was to look up at God just before the camera rolled and say, "Give me a break." Guess God finally called in that marker for all those phenomenal breaks.

Seen it,cost £14.25,I think I could have waited for it to come on Disney Plus.
The action scenes are pretty good and when it's serious its good but 85% of the movie is just tiresome jokes.
Gorr design is OK but he is definitely the best character in the movie.

Crowes Zeus should have been played more serious, like Hopkins Odin.

2.5/5

Damn, I mean this is good but what’s with the MCU lately, I loved MoM and No Way Home, but from what it looks like this phase has been lacking a bit.

I mean if Love and Thunder goes down to the 60s it’ll be so close to Dark World and that’s one of of the most divisive MCU movies lol

Shang Chi was still great tho even if I don’t have the urge to rewatch it as much as is the case with many of the MCU movies.

Idk

Hmmm was ok.

Maybe because I knew what to expect after Ragnarok the jokes didn't jar me so much....very goofy, I preferred eternals

5.5 maybe a 6/10 for me

But, will it have legs?

For reference; 'Doc Strange/Madness' had a 67% decline in the follow-up week.

Will be interesting to see where exactly Thor-4 eventually settles with. 🤔

Just came from the movie and I loved it, not really sure what some of the hate is about. The comedy wasn’t nearly as overbearing as it was made out to be by some, Thor & Jane’s love story was done very well, Bale was terrifically creepy and menacing as Gorr, Valkyrie and Korg continue to be lovable, the overall dynamic between Team Thor is wonderful to watch, the action and visuals were top notch, and it left things on an interesting note. I wouldn’t say it was a masterpiece, but probably in my Top 3 of Phase 4 films and a worthy addition to the Thor series.
