THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Concept Art Reveals Another Huge X-MEN Reference - The Juggernaut!

Some new Thor: Love and Thunder concept art has found its way online, revealing that one early idea was for The Juggernaut to be referenced in the Marvel Studios movie. Check it out here...

It's become clear that a big part of Phase 4 is about introducing a new generation of heroes and characters that set the stage for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's future. Following the conclusion of The Infinity Saga, that's clearly an important next step, especially as Marvel Studios can no longer rely on original fan favourites like Captain America and Iron Man.

Thor: Love and Thunder threw Zeus and Hercules into the mix, while also offering a glimpse at a lot of the MCU's Gods in the process.

Now, some concept art shared by Sung Choi has revealed another big name who very nearly made their presence felt in the movie. As you can see, this version of Omnipotence City had Cyttorak, the creator of the unstoppable Juggernaut, among the ranks of these all-powerful beings.

Cyttorak, also known as The Destroyer, hails from the Crimson Cosmos and was banished from Earth (where he was considered more of a demon than God). However, he continued causing chaos by bestowing his power upon various avatars, with the most famous being Cain Marko, Professor X's stepbrother.

The character has appeared on the big screen a couple of times now, including in X-Men: The Last Stand and Deadpool 2. The latter saw Ryan Reynolds lend his voice to a CG version of the villain, while the former featured Vinnie Jones bringing the formidable powerhouse to life on screen.

Cyttorak appears to be sitting alongside a Galactus-like being, so we're not sure how seriously Marvel Studios and filmmaker Taika Waititi considered his inclusion in Thor: Love and Thunder. However, this feels like a missed opportunity as it would have been a deep-cut Easter Egg for fans that set the stage for some exciting future stories.

Well, definitely more exciting than that Bao God, anyway...

I'm more interested to know why a big-ass comic-accurate Ajak is sitting there

@bkmeijer1 - concept artist probably had broad instructions or no specific direction as to characters. Might have been looking for more of a specific look (various ‘regal’ and ‘godly’ looks there) rather than any specific characters.

@Deklipz - that makes sense. And also, maybe they didn't even have Ajak's final design from Eternals in the concept art phase of this movie

@bkmeijer1 - also true, the ca for this would have been done quite a while back.

Glad Juggernaut wasn't in this, they would have just ruined another character.
