On Saturday night, we learned that
Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for
Thor: Love and Thunder. The movie will not only feature an openly gay Valkyrie, but also the big screen debut of
female Thor. Sorry, the Worthy Thor!
As you can see below, Waititi wants fans to know that when Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) becomes the new God of Thunder, she won't be referred to by her gender; instead, she's going to be dubbed "Mighty" just like her comic book counterpart. That's definitely the best direction to take things in and a sign the filmmaker really cares about the character.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn has also commented on
Thor: Love and Thunder and told one fan that Waititi's movie is going to be set before his. That's hardly a surprise, but it also means that Waititi will have to explain why the God of Thunder isn't in outer space with the team and possibly how he joins back up with them in time for Gunn's threequel.
