THOR: THE DARK WORLD: Marvel Studios Concept Artist Andy Park Reveals Amazing Alternate Malekith Designs

Thor: The Dark World was enjoyable enough but with Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor at the helm, many fans expected a movie which would be considerably better. Malekith, in particular, was wasted and has now become one of the most underwhelming and forgettable Marvel villains to date.

Much of that can be blamed on how bland his plan was but in terms of appearance, Malekith was every bit as disappointing. However, things could have been a lot better for the iconic Thor baddie had concept artist Andy Park had his way. As you can see below, he created some much better designs for the character before the sequel was released which Marvel decided against using for some reason.

As Park notes, these designs are much closer to what we're used to seeing in the comic books and Malekith would have looked far more formidable had Marvel stuck to that. What do you guys think?

The main problem of Malekith wasn't his desig (sure, the overall look and feel of the Dark Elves were a little bland after a while). The problem that it was SOOOOO Bland. Such a boring, apathetic villain. Malekith is supposed to be a fantasy version of the Joker.
If you want to do a villain who is bad "just for the sake of being bad", at least make it entertaining.

@noahthegrand -
"Space Joker" is a close approximation tbh, but Malekith isn't all that funny, and is a sick motherf*cker, truly evil. :P

@LarryDee - Since we're nitpicking Malekith, I'm just gonna add that it still bugs me to no end that they scarred the wrong side of his face in the movie.

@BrettMan - Well they also cut off Ulysses Klauw's wrong arm, so let's call a tradition. XD

@Doomsday8888 - Well of course i didn't mean entertaining in a comedic way, but certainly it would have been interesting to have him engaging. I don't know who was more self-pretentious and stiff in the movie between him and Thor.

Much better, close to the comics, but whatever, i just want to forget this movie now.
Let's just Ragnarok & roll!
