Harrison Ford Reportedly Confirmed To Join THUNDERBOLTS & CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER As Thaddeus Ross

Following a report after the D23 Expo last month, it's been seemingly confirmed that Harrison Ford is indeed set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the new General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross!

Following Jeff Sneider's report last month, Slash Film has independently confirmed that Indiana Jones and Star Wars legend Harrison Ford is indeed set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the recast General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross.

He will take over the role from the late William Hurt, who played the part five times (The Incredible HulkCaptain America: Civil WarAvengers: Infinity WarAvengers: Endgame, and Black Widow).

It was rumored last month that the announcement was blocked at the D23 Expo, due to Lucasfilm wanting to keep the focus on his Indiana Jones swan song, but it looks like, with this latest update, we could be getting a more formal confirmation from Marvel Studios before the end of this calendar year.

As per Sneider, Ford is set to make his debut as Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America: New World Order in early 2024, before taking on a larger role in that summer's Thunderbolts. No word on whether we'll see the legendary Academy Award-nominated actor transform into the Red Hulk, but it certainly can't be out of the realm of possibility with more Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) adventures promised after today's exciting She-Hulk: Attorney at Law finale.

Julius Onah is directing Captain America: New World Order, with a screenplay from Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. The cast will feature Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Danny Ramirez as Joaquín Torres/Falcon, Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns/Leader, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, and Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph/Sabra. It's set to open in theaters on May 3, 2024.

Jake Schreier is helming Thunderbolts, utilizing a screenplay from Eric Pearson. The ensemble cast consists of Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. The team-up title hits theaters on July 26, 2024.

Im happy not to lose Ross and sad Hurt passed away.

Lame they can recast such a legendary actor like him but won’t recast TChalla.

@HulkisHoly - exactly

@HulkisHoly - like seriously

T’challa is an important a character, you cant just tell his stories with another character

Ross…….mcu doesnt have a shortage of asshole military types. If there is a character they didnt have to recast its ross. Hulk comics alone probably have 10+ characters who can fill his role

Also considering his age, more than likely they will find themselves in this situation again within 10 years

@HulkisHoly - I just said this somewhere else.

There will be some anger and confusion as this decision when compared to T'Challa. Hurt only passed this year didn't he?

@UniqNo - been exactly 7 months today since he died

@HulkisHoly - I suspect he won’t be Ross for long and will quickly be Red Hulk, with this essentially being a voiceover role or maybe even a glorified cameo with someone else doing the Red Hulk voice.

At his age, I really don’t see Ford signing up for a role that coul have multiple appearances.

@thewanderer - That's a good possibility. I can't imagine Ford being that present. He's usually quite picky with what he appears in, and his distaste for big budget stuff and green screen is well known

@UniqNo - yea this just feels like he was promised a short timeframe.

@HulkisHoly - Let's eliminate this site and let's eliminate the CBM fans. Will the general audience suddenly turn away from the MCU because of it? That's what we all need to accept. The 1,000 of us diehard fans cannot make the MCU survive. It's the 200,000+ casuals who are only fans of the movies that make it survive. (My math was just an example)

@dracula - I would just copy-paste what you just said, because everything yo said are exactly my thoughts about this and how they handled T'Challa by comparison.

@HulkisHoly - William Hurt being accused of abuse and rape, allegations that hung over his head for years now, probably has a bit to do with it.
