First Official Synopsis For BUMBLEBEE Teases A Very Different Sort Of TRANSFORMERS Story

It's been clear for a while now that Bumblebee won't be your typical Transformers movie and now the official synopsis makes it clear that we should expect something very different indeed. Check it out!

Transformers: The Last Knight underperformed in a big way when it opened earlier this year but that hasn't stopped Paramount Pictures from forging ahead with a shared unicerse for the Autobots and Decepticons. The first spinoff on the way is Bumblebee, a movie with a very different sort of look and tone which promises to deliver a much different sort of adventure for the fan-favourite character.

Now, an official synopsis has been released, and it says: "On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken.  When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug."

Bumblebee is produced by Transformers franchise veterans Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Michael Bay, along with executive producers Steven Spielberg, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian. Chris Brigham will also produce. The screenplay is written by Christina Hodson and directed by Travis Knight.

The movie stars Hailee Steinfeld, Pamela Adlon, John Cena, Stephen Schneider, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Jason Drucker, Kenneth Choi, Ricardo Hoyos, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, and Grace Dzienny. What do you guys think of the synopsis? Let us know your thoughts on these details in the comments section.

"Very different"

This synopsis sounds exactly the same as Transformers 1 and 4

Sucks to see the Transformers be mistreated over and over again. Wish we still had this the best Transformers series:

what we get now just makes me:
Brave

So I did some research on the writer and director...

Christina Hodson is fairly new, but from what she's done, her films aren't very good. Travis Knight (who I didn't know directed Kubo and Paranorman) is an interesting choice. Makes me wonder if Bumblebee will be practical/stop-motion mixed with CG. It would be a fresh take and make sense as an 80s throwback.

@Brave - Knight didn’t direct Paranorman, but he did produce it. The stop motion with CGI would definitely be an interesting and fresh choice.

Hailee Steinfeld and the girl in Last Knight are waisted in these movies, they need to reboot without michael bay, either girl would be great to play this character:

@realDonaldDuck - No, but I bet he sticks his fingers in it in some places anyway.

What exactly about this synopsis screams “different”? Also, in the first film it seemed like the autobots were completely unfamiliar with earth like they’re never been there before. I keep telling myself “don’t try to make sense of these movies” but alas I’m malignantly logical.

The entire reason that I have hope for this film despite hating the Transformers movies:

@Chewtoy - Love Kubo. Seriously, everyone should have a copy. It's like 6$ in HD on Google Play right now. That's ridiculously low for such a great movie.
