Garth Ennis's infamously violent comic series The Boys has been rumored to get the CBM treatment for some time now. But the comic has garnered controversy for more than its brutality and sex content. Apparently Ennis and artist Darick Robertson's decision to model Scottish team member Wee Hughie on English actor/comedian Simon Pegg(Scotty in Star Trek) caused a bit of a ruckus over at DC, where the comic was first published. But things calmed down a bit when they discovered that not only was Pegg very flattered but he would love some free copies of the comic!

Pegg Twittered...

"The Boys rocks. Think I’m a little old to play Hughie though. There has been talk of a movie for some time. Would be fun."

Nonsense sir. If Sam Jackson can bring his Nick Fury to the screen, you can too! Pegg's continued interest in this may give the project wings. And after the likes of Kick Ass finding a distributor, its not too hard to fathom such a violent comic adaptation being picked up. Of course, The Boys is just a tad more extreme than anything we have seen in a CBM thus far.

and the Frenchman, i would like to see a flawless Frenchman portrayal.

Wizard did the casting a couple of years ago, and I can't remember who else they cast, but the Frenchman was Cyril Raffaelli. He was in the French action epic, District B-13 and in Live Free or Die Hard.


He's the one kicking everyone's ass. And he's French. What a concept!

The Boys is one of the greatest stories ever!!! Its written by Garth Ennis (Preacher- hence the name Killer of Saints). Its totally full of sex and drugs and anti-every super hero you can think of. ITS AWESOME

It's one of my favorite series! Heroes ( JLA Type characters ) do what ever they want kill, rape and even worse and the boys tune them up.

I love the Boys. I've read and own every issue. Simon Pegg is the only actor who can truly pull Hughie off. Every time I read his character I hear Pegg's voice.
