The Boys universe continues to expand, with a third spin-off series announced this evening during the Prime Video's show's San Diego Comic-Con panel.

Vought Rising will be a prequel series focusing on the origins of the all-encompassing corporation from the main series, with both Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash set to reprise their respective roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront.

Spoilers for the season 4 finale of The Boys ahead.

Ackles also made an appearance on stage at Hall H, confirming that Solider Boy will return as a series regular for the fifth and final season after making a brief appearance in the season 4 finale's post-credits scene.

“From the very beginning, I wanted to wrap it out around season five,” said showrunner Eric Kripke. “You can have your calm-before-the-storm moment, which is kind of what season four is for me. I say calm… you know what I mean. It’s about the characters and then you kick off into a climax.”

Check out the first official key art for Vought Rising below, and let us know what you make of the concept of this spin-off series in the comments section.

"The world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power," reads the official season 4 synopsis. "Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son as well as his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late."

Returning cast members include Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti, along with new recruits Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

The first three episodes of The Boys season 4 will be available to stream from June 13th, with new instalments dropping weekly through to the season finale on July 18.

I love the fact they mock the Marvel/DC model a Lot and they end up doing the exact same thing with all the spinoff, prequels, Broadway musicals on ice, etcetc

They make fun of Marvel and DC for all the phases etc but this will be the 5th The Boys show! The Boys, The Boys Animated series, Gen V, Vought Rising and The Boys Mexico series!

I just hope Maeve returns in Season 5. I would imagine that she'd at least appear.

@IAmAHoot - yeah , we need one more Maeve appearance

I liked that she got her happy ending but this will affect her now so it would be odd to not see her again.

I did miss her presence in S4.

Wonder who they’ll cast?.

I’m kinda mixed on this tbh…

I like the idea of it being apparently a pulpy 50’s-set murder mystery but while I enjoy the characters of Soldier Boy and even Stormfront to an extent , they aren’t exactly the most likable of people to put it mildly so idk if I would want to follow them much if they are indeed the leads.

Also it’s funny to see The Boys become what it would make fun of it.

@TheVisionary25 - they definitely aren't likeable, so I do wonder how they're gonna frame this story. It does feel like important history.

And yeah, it is kinda ironic they're becoming the thing they're mocking. Atleast it feels important though. Can't say the same for Gen V.

@bkmeijer1 - yeah true

Though didn’t Gen V introduce the Supes Virus ?

That seems important for S4 and going into 5.

@TheVisionary25 - it did, but I don't think it changes anything if I hadn't watched Gen V. The virus is reintroduced (twice) anyway

When you are so tone deaf you become the parody you are parodying. They don't even know what to do with the main series. Season 4 was treading water until the finale.

I'm struggling to see any way they can make a show about these two (especially Stormfront)
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 7/26/2024, 5:24 PM
@BB8ANG - a Soldier Boy origins show of showing how his misguided need for approval from his dad led him to Vought and his descent into being the awful person he became could be interesting (and we might see that in this show)

However ,Stormfront was a Nazi from pretty much the beginning so that one I’m less certain about.
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 7/27/2024, 12:28 AM
@BB8ANG - How can they make them feel relatable to the audience is what they have to crack without also sugar coating them which is what many fail to do. Soldier Boy goes to become a racist abuser that physically abused his teammates and never let someone like Black Noir break out into Hollywood. He was also a misogynist seeing how he talked to Mallory in those flashbacks. There's only how much they can push the "daddy issues" card.

Who can relate to a racist bully that makes unflattering comments to women thinking they like that?

And Stormfront's a Nazi.

Kripke is kinda delusional with this.
BB8ANG
BB8ANG - 7/27/2024, 11:23 PM
@NinnesMBC - Exactly. If they succeed in making these two relatable, then that's a failure imo. What I WOULD be interested in however, is this show's protagonists being a 1950's Cold War version of the Boys with Stormfront and Soldier Boys being the antagonist. It would ultimately end in tragedy, and be a rehash of S2 & 3, but I'd take that over sugar-coating a racist and a Nazi.

I think they are overdoing this universe. Gen V as kind of a snorefest for me, i get they were trying to make the boys version of The X-Men but it didn't worked for me becuse the show took himself too serious and the fun thing about The Boys it is satirical nature but when you overdo the concept it becomes less and less funny.

NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 7/27/2024, 12:31 AM
Kripke is so excited about this new prequel that he doesn't stop to think about that he's gonna write in favor of two objectively amoral and evil characters in this prequel. One is a racist misogynist that physically bullied his teammates and the other is a literal Nazi. How is he gonna sugarcoat them to make the audience "relate" to their personalities and even empathize with them?

The only way possible is to sugar coat all the things they did in their glory days, there's no other road. And it is done always with dark humor that this show tries to normalize. The only one that will get scot free of this is Soldier Boy because he's played by Jensen Ackles but that's just a really petty and shallow reason.

And it's obvious he's milking this show now. Between this and the Mexican in-development spinoff I'd rather the former.

@NinnesMBC - "Kripke is so excited about this new prequel that he doesn't stop to think about that he's gonna write in favor of two objectively amoral and evil characters in this prequel."

You really think that he hasn't given that any thought at all? Typically, a basic story outline is in place before a show gets the green light.
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 7/27/2024, 9:00 PM
@clintthahamster - That must've already been established, but he can't also detour too much from the path Soldier Boy and Stormfront eventually take to become the characters we know them for. They can't be written as sympathetic or relatable at all in order to gather empathy from us if they are gonna stay true to who they are and what are their character beats.
