News on what Seth Rogen and co. were doing with their live-action adaptation of The Boys has been scarce since the original announcement back in April 2016.  Now, Variety has revealed that the project has landed at Amazon Studios, the same home of  Jeffrey Tambor's award-winning Transparent.

The series has officially entered production at Amazon and will be a 1-hr drama written by Eric Kripke. Amazon is reportedly weighing whether to bypass a pilot commitment and give the project a straight-to-series order.

If you're feeling a bit jaded with the current state of superhero television and films, The Boys will certainly grab your attention.  The 72-issue comic series is full of sex, drugs and morally-ambiguous characters that make it decidedly unclear who's exactly on the side of good and evil.

This is going to hurt!

In a world where costumed heroes soar through the sky and masked vigilantes prowl the night, someone's got to make sure the "supes" don't get out of line. And someone will! Billy Butcher, Wee Hughie, Mother's Milk, The Frenchman, and The Female are The Boys: A CIA-backed team of very dangerous people, each one dedicated to the struggle against the most dangerous force on Earth - superpower! Some superheroes have to be watched. Some have to be controlled. And some of them - sometimes - need to be taken out of the picture. That's when you call in The Boys!

The Boys Vol. 1: The Name of the Game collects the first six issues of the hit series The Boys by Garth Ennis (Preacher, The Punisher) and drawn by Darick Robertson (Transmetropolitan, Wolverine)!

@thetrojan - ya'll read the comic and still think the show is good huh....ok. :(
I cant stand the ambiguous nature of Jesse. He would never use the word the way he does in the show. Completely drunk with power, no sense of honor or responsibilty, and made Tulip kiss him against her will. I had to stop watching it...it totally ruins the core of Jesse. Yes it does make more sense that Genesis would attach itself to a person that was morally ambiguous but that is not who Jesse Custer is. He is one of the good guys, cause their were way too many of the bad.

Let's see what would I feel jaded by? With a culture desiring to go R rated with everything. I thing this new show would just make more jaded about watching superhero shows if they are going to all start going in this direction just to satisfy the lack of control of some people. I could go on about how sex outside of marriage has corrupted our culture as well as how drugs is killing people and how moral ambiguity is confusing children . . .

As long as they don`t sit around in an old apartment most of the time, like they do in Preacher...
Please, spend some production-money this time.

I absolutely love The Boys. But even on Amazon there is absolutely no way this will be greenlit without toning it down which is a shame and they may as well not bother. It's hilarious but utterly horrific on every page and even 18 rated this will have to be toned down :(

@blazingkidtes - I would pick up the first collection. I think it's like 10 bucks. But basically it's a government run group that keeps the Supes in line. Unlike DC and Marvel characters a majority of the Supes in the Boys are corrupt as hell. It's fast paces and a fun read, also no matter what the Amazon series tries to do, it will never go to the depths of depravity that the books do.
