The Boys season four premieres this Thursday, and ahead of its launch, we sat down with stars Antony Starr (“John Gillman/Homelander”) and Chace Crawford (“Kevin Moskowitz/The Deep”) to talk about what's coming our way this season.
With Homelander winning over Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) last season, we asked Starr what kind of father Homelander hopes to be or whether he's seeking something else entirely out of their relationship. Meanwhile, Crawford explains why he believes The Deep has stayed the Seven so long and what's behind his unwavering loyalty to Homelander.
Plus, we also get a small tease about when fans should expect the inevitable showdown between Homelander and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban)!

ROHAN: Antony, after everything with Soldier Boy last season, you’d think Homelander would be a more attentive father, but he’s really more focused on his own thing. At this stage, what would you say he’s looking for? Does he want to be happy? Does he want a family? Does he want power?
ANTONY: It's interesting you say that because I think most people look at it like just fatherhood, but it's actually not about fatherhood, it's about legacy. The kid is basically an instrument or a tool to further his legacy, to create some kind of reminder of himself. That's the reference to Caesar early on. I think the relationship between Homie and the kid, there is a genuine love, but, you know, we're talking about very damaged people, especially in Homelander’s case, so it can never really be realized in a pure sense. It's always got this very warped element to it.
ROHAN: Chace, after all that’s happened and all that happens this season, why does The Deep seem even more committed to The Seven? Why would you say he needs the team?
CHACE: I think he needs the team, I think he needs to be, for his identity and his person, who he is, I think he, you know, he isn’t really smart enough to move above, like really have any latitude of where he's going. He doesn’t have any other job offers, you know what I mean, and I think, in kind of a sick way, that is his family. He's literally out of his home, the ocean, and that's where he really feels comfortable. So, I think he views it as that even though people treat them like a punching bag in a way, but yeah, I think he does enjoy being sort of told what to do even though he's kind of cutthroat trying to stay in the Seven or keep his position within, you know, on Homelander’s good side. So, it's fun to see him sort of bend over backwards to try and do whatever he can to make Homelander happy.
ANTONY: Michael Cohen!
CHACE: *laughs* Yeah, he’s like a bad fixer.
ROHAN: Antony, Billy and The Boys are still very much a thorn in your side, but you have bigger priorities this season. Has Homelander no longer concerned with them cause of Billy's diagnosis? Or, are we in a waiting period before the inevitable showdown?
ANTONY: I think Butcher openly tried to kill him in season three, so I think if he could have eradicated that, and moved on to the bigger fish, which is, you know, national and global domination, then he would have done that and would do that. So, I think Season Four is interesting, because it's a little bit of a cool off period, in some ways, because we need somewhere to go, and I think anytime you've got those two characters coming together, it's gonna be very impactful. And, we really did that pretty heavily in season three, so season four is structured a little different, but those two, you know, they're gonna get it on. It's not not gonna happen, you know what I mean?
The Boys will premiere its fourth season on June 13, 2024, with three episodes, followed by a new episode each week, ending with the epic season finale on Thursday, July 18. The eight-episode season will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.

The Boys is based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, who also serve as executive producers, and developed by executive producer and showrunner Eric Kripke.
