INTO THE BADLANDS Season 2, Chapter XVI: Wolf's Breath, Dragon Fire Finale Promo

The hype around this show is starting to build and for good reason. There is nothing like it on television and last weeks episode - which was truly awesome with the combination of revelations and confrontations that came to a head - was intense. I maintain a cable television account almost exclusively for this show...well not really...but almost.

Pumped for the finale. Show kicked it up a couple notches this season and Nick Frost has been a great addition.

Really liked the season finale...really good but I cannot say that it was great. They really need to tighten up the writing with some of the characters that are kind of left dangling as if their plot points are not going anywhere. Although while unfortunate in some ways, the absence of some characters in the next season can be a blessing in disguise.

CONS
I have always thought having a infant as part of the cast was a lazy way for the writers to build tension for its safety. In these kinds of films it slows down the opportunity for dramatic confrontations. MK's arc has gone nowhere in my opinion.


PROS
The bread and butter of this show is the martial arts action. It has been and continued to be top notched and I think it sets it apart from other action television. The Widow's arc is becoming more and more interesting as a kind of anti-hero. I am always unsure if I should root for her or what her motives are. Baji's is an excellent addition to the cast. He was great at both connecting and driving separate plot points. In addition he provided mystery to the show and in the final episode brought it full circle.

My hope is that the next season takes up years after how season 2 ended. With fate of the Barons unknown and 16 new episodes ordered for next season...I hope they take the show in a fresh new direction that builds on what came before but is not afraid to take chances instead of relying on cliched stories. That stated I am really looking forward to next season.
