Thanks to TV Line, we have a first look at descriptions of the lead characters from the planned companion/spin-off series to The Walking Dead. AMC recently gave the unnamed zombie drama a pilot order and apparently it's possible that we may see it on air sometime next year. As you can see from the list below, it appears as if the focus will be on a much smaller group with the emphasis on family instead of a mostly random bunch of strangers pairing up in order to try and survive.

It's believed that the series may even be a prequel of sorts chronicling the days just after the virus broke out, something we got to see very little of in The Walking Dead apart from in a flashback featuring Lori, Shane and Carl. Check out the descriptions below and sound off with your thoughts!

SEAN CABRERA | A Latino male in his early 40s, Sean is a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.

CODY CABRERA | Sean’s whip-smart and rebellious teenage son. Known as the angriest kid in town.

NANCY TOMPKINS | A thirtysomething single mom to two kids, Nancy looks like the girl next door, but there’s an edge to her.

NICK TOMPKINS | Nancy’s screwed up teenage son. He’s too old to stay home, too scared to flee.

ASHLEY TOMPKINS | Nancy’s mostly level-headed teenage daughter. Her ambition is in direct proportion to her older brother’s failures. She loves her mom but it’s time to get out of Dodge.

ANDREA CHAPMAN | A somewhat wilted flower child, fortysomething Andrea — yep, another Andrea! — has retreated to the outskirts of the city to recover after a horrible marriage.

"Sean’s whip-smart and rebellious teenage son. Known as the angriest kid in town."

That could get old REAL quick. No need for Carl 2.0, he's annoying enough.

They sound terrible. Why can't they write good characters like the ones in the game?

You complainers are ridiculous.
Just watch the pilot & see how the performances are.
Character descriptions show nothing of how an actor will bring it to life.
All I want is the female cast members to be sexy..& a new Merle type,I like rooting for the scum bags.

Great. Because the idot rebellious kid who acts out in the middle of a crisis HASN'T been overdone in movies and TV already.

I hated the first season of Walking Dead, but the second season (and everything after) really turned it around. Even though I usually snarkily shit on this sort of thing, I'll withhold any kind of judgement.

These sorts of shows can easily rework themselves by killing off characters that just aren't working and moving the series to an almost completely different setting on a dime, so I'll give it a chance (probably after the first season finale).
