Tonight's instalment of The Walking Dead ended with Rick surrounded and... smiling? It seems clear that Mr. Grimes feels he's just encountered some well-armed soldiers for his new army, but before any recruiting can be done it looks like he's going to have to talk himself and his crew out of a pretty sticky situation. Plus, we're going to see the debut of that terrifying spiked walker.

Check out the promo for "New Best Friends" below along with a sneak peek, and let us know what you thought of tonight's extended midseason premiere in the comments section.

While searching for a missing Alexandrian, Rick and his group encounter a mysterious collective, its inhabitants unlike any they have come across.

Will they do the whole All Out World storyline the rest of this season or will it carry over to season 8? That's the real question.

This episode was great. Resolved a lot of the problems with the first half and the promo for the next episode was promising. The bottle episodes and character vignettes just don't work. They slow the show down and draw attention away from the main plot. What works is having most of the cast together like tonight and showing more than one community per episode. Based off of this promo it looks like Rick and co might have to fight in some sort of walker arena to earn the garbage-pail-kids' help.

I wish Tara would go against her word and tell Rick about the group she found.

I'm thinking this is a group Gabriel might of encountered when he left Spencer on the side of the road for slick talking on Rick. and was taking supplies to get them on their side.Just like Oceanside and Tara, I'm thinking this will be a Garbage Gang and Gabriel based episode. He did walk off into the distance and magically showed up back at Alexandria when Negan was shooting pool.
