More Stills From Next Month's Return Of THE WALKING DEAD Tease A New Group Of Survivors

AMC has released another batch of promo images for February's return episode of The Walking Dead, one of which teases a new character that's apparently going to be a key player in the battle to come...

AMC (via EW) has debuted some new stills from the midseason premiere of The Walking Dead, featuring the likes of Rick, Michonne, Daryl, and several other familiar faces. While they don't appear to be particularly revealing, there are a few things worth noting.

For one, the fact that Rick is walking with Negan's right-and man, Simon, suggests that the group will be playing nice for a while before rushing into anything, which is probably a very good idea.

Also, the woman with her back to us in the final pic is going to be a major character according to showrunner Scott Gimple, and the group she leads will play a significant part in the inevitable "All-Out War". Is this Alpha? Not likely - unless they're taking some big liberties with how The Whisperers are introduced.

Rick’s group will find out yet again that the world isn’t what they thought it was. It’s much bigger than anything they’ve seen so far. While they have a singular purpose – to defeat Negan – it won’t come easy. More importantly, victory will require more than Alexandria. They need the numbers of the Kingdom and the Hilltop, but, similar to how Rick felt, Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Gregory (Xander Berkeley) do not want bloodshed. To convince them otherwise will take more than speeches. The lengths Rick and the group will have to go to in order to find weapons, food and new fighters is nothing short of remarkable. We’ll meet new survivors in incredible places. We’ll see Rick and the group tested in ways we’ve never seen before.

The Walking Dead returns on February 12.

This is the one show I can't bring myself to dislike... even with some of the boring episodes. I totally drink the Walking Dead Koolaid!

It had a nice premiere episode, and i was hyped for the rest for the season. But it was all a smart diversion to leave us with an extremely boring season.It's still a good show and i will follow it till the end. But it's will never come to the level of the true king of TV Shows

@Nasseal82isback -

Game Of Thrones has some good moments, but the entire story hinges on how it ends. If they end things with the promised battle between the Walkers and the Dragons where everyone dies then no doubt people are going to be disappointed. Killing off the fan favourite characters has caused a lot of people to abandon the show and they know without the characters you showed here, the show would'nt be watched by anywhere near the amount of viewers it currently has.

It's funny that we're at the same point in the comics where i stopped watching... and for the same reasons I've lost interest in the show.
