Season 2 Of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD Will Have 15 Episodes & Large-Scale Ramifications

We still haven't seen the first episode of Fear The Walking Dead, but the producers are already looking ahead to Season 2! Set to have an increased number of episodes, it looks like there's plenty of zombie-inflicted paranoia and chaos to come from the spin-off!

Season 1 of Fear The Walking Dead has yet to hit TV screens, but it's creators are already teasing what lies ahead. Speaking to reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills on Friday, AMC President Charlie Collier confirmed that the spin-off's pre-ordered second season will have as many as 15 episodes - more than double the number in Season 1.

It appears that the show's debut season will move at a more measured pace - laying the foundations for the inevitable zombie apocalypse to come. "We purposely built the show a bit more slowly than the original,” showrunner Dave Erickson told TV Line. “We call them ‘infected’ and not ‘walkers.’ There’s absolutely going to be walkers, [but] there will be a build."

Erickson also added that while the show would initially focus on the preliminary "anxiety and paranoia and tension" from the early days of the virus, the chaos and hysteria will quickly begin to spread ahead of a large scale outbreak in Season 2. "By the end of Season 1, we definitely know the world has changed,” he claimed. “It is the end of the world as we know it.”

Sadly, fans shouldn't get their hopes up about a potential crossover between the spin-off and its incredibly popular sister show anytime in the near future. "There’s no crossover plans right now," Erickson insisted, "We’re telling parallel narratives that live under the same mythological umbrella… but there’s no intention of having Easter eggs or character references."

Season 1 of Fear The Walking Dead is set to premiere August 23 on AMC.

The trailer made it look like the first attack happens in a church. Is that a clue as to the nature of the zombpocalypse?
