Based on one of the most successful and popular comic books of all time, written by Robert Kirkman, AMC’s The Walking Dead captures the ongoing human drama following a zombie apocalypse. The series follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually, Teachers, Strike Back), who are traveling in search of a safe and secure home. However, instead of the zombies, it is the living who remain that truly become the walking dead. Jon Bernthal (The Pacific, The Ghost Writer) plays Shane Walsh, Rick's sheriff's department partner before the apocalypse, and Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break), is Rick's wife, Lori Grimes. Additional cast include: Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Jeffrey DeMunn, Chandler Riggs, Iron E. Singleton and Melissa McBride. Guest stars include: Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson and Pruitt Taylor Vince.

The Walking Dead stars: Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn, Scott Wilson, Emily Kinney, Sarah Wayne Callies, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Iron E. Singleton, Madison Lintz, Danai Gurira, Melissa Suzanne McBride, Michael Rooker, Lauren Cohan, Vincent M. Ward, Chad L. Coleman, and David Morrissey.

Without a villain present theirs nothing to drive the show - so I've stopped watching. The zombies never count as a villain because they barely do anything other than contribute to the main issue in the show.

The main issue being theirs no set goal. Nothing for them to strive for and nothing for them to do. Whatever the cast do they'll die and become zombies and the human race will go extinct - they are the 'walking dead' Their is quite literally nothing worthwhile in watching the show - and its been that way since the end of the first series when they announced this situation.

I've struggled through season 2, season 3 and the first half of season 4 with the hope it would improve and trust me Shane and The Governor were a welcome distraction - but all the intriguing characters are dead now except for Michonne and Daryl. Michonne is being set up obviously to take the place of Andrea in the comics as a future potential romance for Rick - while Daryl is getting more emotional weakening his 'bad-ass' appeal.

Rick is the character we're supposed to relate with and care about - yet he's just either an emotional wreck or taking the 'bitchy' place that Lori had. Carl is just completely unlikeable at this point and the writing quality has been dropping massively.

So yeah... hope this series ends before it gets dragged out any further and starts affecting the flow of the comics. I know they'll start introducing TV show characters in the comics if they continue and I'd prefer them not to.

The main villain right now is death, these characters are trying to survive and that is what the show was originally based on.

This one was better than the last eps of this half of the season. Less for me to say "WTF" about. But it was still boring. And the burning the house....was kinda dumb. One...its in the woods so even though this is zombiegeddon....its not a great idea to set a fire in the woods! And since one this show...it never rains....that fire is gonna spread so you better get running cause your screwed. PLUS....after seeing Glenn in the last other ep....walker apparently are attracted to fire for some stupid as hell reason...so Beth and Daryl just left a huge calling card!

All about Character development, so cant hate on that.

Although, I am tired of the show only following 2 different groups in every episode. This one just with Daryl and Beth.

Like I said cant hate on Character development, but the way there doing these last couple episodes I wish they would do 20-24 episodes in a season.

Great episode, and the guy who said the show is losing steam because it doesn't have a villain makes little sense saying that. The first and second seasons didn't have any villains besides the walkers and they were fantastic.

Loved the episode. The ending was one of my favorites in the whole series. And yes, this is coming from someone who has been in love with the show since Day 1 of Season 1. I need a .gif of Beth and Daryl flipping off the fire at the end.

Bob will get bit in the arm and he will take Morgans place in comics with it getting amputated and maybe dying from the wound. Bob is a character that hasnt got his shine yet so maybe a death bed confessional(?) will get that going. next episode promises to be intense

Since day one this series and it's source have been about character development. That's the entire point. Development is good. It makes us actually care before Kirkman and Co. rip our hearts out, blend'em, and suck'em back through a straw. But ok, call it boring if you like. Maybe go watch a Bay flick if that's all you want out of your characters.

Sorry, but this episode was awful. I understand slow character development episodes, but this didn't progress ANYTHING or ANYONE. It was just Beth talking about her feelings as we spend another full episode of filler-content so that one of the characters can have a meaningless realization that adds nothing to the plot.

ahhmynuts
ahhmynuts - 3/2/2014, 11:37 PM
@bazinga

disagree 100%. the whole episode was about them learning more about each other eventually leading to daryl breaking down. besides the episode where his brother dies where have we seen daryl get so emotional? as for beth we see that just because shes all calm and cool on the outside shes actually a little scared and self-conscious. we find out A LOT about both characters.i mean in that scene where they were fighting, im pretty sure the point of the episode was point blank there. wasnt the best episode i agree but to say there was no progression is just plain ignorant

I'm usually not on board with this kind of episode but this was a story that needed to be told.
You cannot care about characters in films or TV if they are not developed and fleshed out.
The more real they are the more it matters when their lives are in jeopardy.

This episode was like a 2 person play. And the writing and acting was good enough to really make it a very nice and interesting watch.

Even without loads of action this was to me one of the series best.

This episode was solid, showed the character development and people will start caring about beth bc shes been kinda weak character, as for the "they need a villain" they just fought off the governor for a season and a half, you cant just jump from villain to villain that would get ridiculous and theyd out run the comic quicker than they are already about to do. But since your complaining about how the show is going then uve obviously never read the comics, its, their doing te comic justice but still keeping it fresh. Plus their expanding the world, to make it feel more real. If people are really complaining these episodes are boring, they must be the people who actually liked The 2nd Transformers movie, go watch some shitty steven segal movie and let the people who enjoy story watch the show. There is absolutly nothing wrong with these episodes, just peoples attention spans

@JoeMomma29

Sure they have to survive - however that's the main goal of real life also. None of them are taking it seriously or logically making it a very minor goal in the series. For example in the last episode;

- Rick risks his and his sons safety simply because he is worried his son cant handle it
- Carl risks his life to get pudding, putting himself in danger for the sake of essentially proving to his father he is capable.
- Theirs a conversation where they literally explain to one another that they have enough food (Via canned food) making any fears of starving obsolete

Survival would be a good goal if that was actually the focus, similar to how the first season focused on Daryl going out hunting and defending against zombies OR how the second season focused on growing crops and defending themselves OR how the third season focused on finding security. So far its none of them - just characters acting dumb to prove themselves to other characters.

In the current scenario the only enemy they have to face is the zombies - and as proven they are capable of easily escaping the zombies if they wanted to via just moving to a different location.Regardless as of that episode - I'm no longer wasting my time watching the series.

Walking Dead NEEDS to go to longer episode format like Sons Of Anarchy! With the over long comercial breaks the show is only like 35 minutes long!

It was nice to see that Daryl cared so much about his crew, that he believed it to be his fault for not doing more to save the prison. He carries a shared unspoken burden with Rick. Rick carries so much of the burden that its starting to break him, understandable when you feel like its your fault people are dying. After reading some of these post, you all do realize this is a show based on a comic right? Not only that, they dont want to keep it 100% to the source as we would all know what happens. Why would you want to watch that? The fact that they are going away from it just makes it that much more interesting. Daryl doesnt exist in the comics, yet we will riot if he dies lol.
