MTV sat down with Steven Yeun, Melissa McBride and Norman Reedus to talk about AMC's hit show The Walking Dead. The question was brought up just how the characters were going to move on after the devastating revelation in the mid-season finale that saw Rick having to shoot Sophia because she was a Walker. McBride and Reedus both said that Sophia represented hope among the group and now with her gone the group will never be the same again.

McBride:

"For my character Carol, she's got to deal with the grief and how she's going to move forward."

"I think keeping hope alive for her represented, even though all the odds were against finding her alive, you just sort of cling to that hope. She represented that unseen thing that's going to carry you through and to have her come through the barn the way she did, I think it's really throwing a lot of doubt on faith. What unseen thing is going to help us through this? Is it really out there?"

Reedus:

"I think for all of us she was a symbol of hope. If we could hold onto her then we'd maybe save a little piece of ourselves as well. Once that went down, all bets are off and everybody's miserable and homicidal at this point, especially her(Carol)."

The Walking Dead will resume February 12th with the episode Nebraska on AMC.

I'm guessing the death of Sophia will also lead to Rick falling deeper and deeper into his rut of pretending to be a bad English actor as well.
