THE WALKING DEAD Casts Fan-Favourite Character 'Jesus' For Season 6

An actor with a striking resemblance to Jesus (a.k.a. Paul Monroe) was recently spotted on the set of The Walking Dead season six, and the actor playing this fan-favourite character from Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard's hit comic book series has finally been revealed...

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that British actor Tom Payne has been cast as Jesus in the sixth season of The Walking Dead. The Luck alum will have a recurring role in the series, with the option to return in season seven next year (seeing as the character is still alive and kicking in the Image Comics series, chances are that he'll be back). Introduced in issue #91 of The Walking Dead, Paul Monroe hails from the Hilltop Colony and becomes a close friend and ally to Rick Grimes in the battle against Negan. The trade describes this version of the character as, "a rare logical man and skilled adviser with a strong sense of morals and values who is well-adapted to the new world." Whether we're going to see that villain this year remains to be seen, but we may be building to that happening in a future season (first the survivors are going to have to square off with The Wolves). What do you think about this casting decision? As always, weigh in with your thoughts below.

Hopefully we'll see Negan in this season, or at least by the end.

Hope Henry Rollins is casted for Neegan. He should show up near the end of Season 6 or beginning of Season 7

I think Michael C. Hall would make a solid Negan. His range of playing convincingly good & evil suits the character well.

I know we're supposed to think Jesus is white but I don't think he's suppose to be that white.

If they can't get Henry Rollins, Bobby Cannavale should play Negan. I know some people want Jon Hamm or Jeffrey Dean Morgan, but they might be too Hollywood now.

I just read elsewhere that they have cast Xander Berkeley (George Mason, 24) as Gregory. To me this is great casting as he will do an amazing job as the self-serving, cowardly leader willing to make a deal with Negan if it means saving his behind. Someone mentioned Jon Hamm now being too big for the role of Negan. Keep in mind that AMC is what made him so I think that if the network wanted it to happen we could see it. Even if we don't see Negan this season I still expect to hear about a Dwight casting.

Hilltop is officially coming in the second half of season six!

@ sKeemAn - yes, Kevin Durand would kill it as Negan. Is his plate too full with The Strain?
