According to The Wrap, AMC has renewed The Walking Dead for a third season. This come as no surprise, after the show broke the basic cable ratings records in it's first episode of season two, with 7.3 million total viewers watching it, all while maintaining the quality in story and acting from season one.

Based on the long-running comic book series by Robert Kirkman, the show features Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, the leader of the group of survivors that tries to survive on a zombie apocalypse scenario.

"Today we are pleased to announce that the ‘dead’ shall live as we proudly renew ‘The Walking Dead’ for a third season on AMC and, globally, with our terrific partners at Fox International Channels," said Charlie Collier, AMC’s President. “We are thankful for everyone’s contribution in front of and behind the camera as we continue to make ‘The Walking Dead’ a unique television experience. And, we are so proud as it continues to set viewership records around the world.”

"Save the Last One", the third episode on season 2, will air on AMC next Sunday!

The show is about people dealing with zombies, not zombies eating people. If it was it would have been boring in 15 minutes, 25 for me i like zombies eating people.

I am personally glad we don't have nonstop zombies. I know the main backdrop is how this group of people exist in the zombie apocalypse. There has to be some story development. You know episode 3 is going to have a lot of zombie action in it seeing how episode 2 ended. Just relax, and enjoy the ride. Of not watch somethig else.

i don't want to see a zombie gore fest. thats what Romero is far. The Walking Dead is way more then that. the show is fine the way it is.

lol @nuck it's not like they're pulling these plots out of their ass. They're more or less following the comics, and it hasn't even started to get good yet. After 2 or 3 more seasons you may have a valid point, but right now you're just spouting shit.

I wasn't aware Andrew Lincoln, aka Rick Grimes, was from England. He's got a heavy accent in real life but hides it REALLY well in the show.
