The writers should have named this episode “Filler,” as it really is just that, giving us very few moments and advancing the story little to not at all. This episode starts off with Rick running and getting finally back to Alexandria but with a train of walkers on his heels. It seems a little bit of a cop out (no pun intended) that it didn’t show us how Rick got out of where the last episode left us with Rick in the RV with the horde of walkers surrounding it. I hope we get at least a flashback in a future episode of how he got out of there in one piece because I think that would be an amazing action scene to watch. The people of Alexandria have a little town meeting where a lot of people are at odds and just feel lost. Aaron tells the town that he believes it’s his fault that the wolves came and attacked because they found his backpack. Although most of this episode was extremely slow we got to see a little bit of character development and character growth within the town. We see a few people from Alexandria step up to the plate and finally come to the realization that the safe place they knew is gone and need to grow and play catch up to the world that it is today. We see Aaron and Maggie bond because Aaron feels responsible and we see them create a friendship that was nice to see that although the group is scattered, it’s no reason to run off and divide more. One of the most amazing walkers we have seen in the show was in this episode. I believe The Talking Dead called it a “Sludge Walker,” which is perfect because this walker was so decayed that Maggie literally had her hand in its chest with ease. The effects team did an amazing job on this walker because it was an amazing scene and looked outstanding. We get a little bit of foreshadowing of what’s to come between Carl and Ron and Ron and Rick’s relationship. We do see Deanna the town leader go through a breakdown to the point we the viewers have no clue what she is going to do. She looks like she’s hit rock bottom and would commit suicide but as the episode goes on we see her grow and tell Rick, “I want to live,” after taking out one of the wolves that came in two episodes ago turned zombie. As Deanna is walking back to her home, we see more foreshadowing and that is the walls bleeding which means that those walls aren’t going to hold for long. Overall this episode was meh and pretty boring and like I said at the beginning of this review, it was filler.
