The first trailer for The Walking Dead season eight will debut on July 21st when the series returns to Hall H in San Deigo for its yearly Comic-Con panel. In the meantime, we have a very cool new poster for the show featuring Rick Grimes staring down Negan with pretty much every supporting character.

As you can see, The Walking Dead will return to AMC with its 100th episode on October 22nd. This news is surprising, not because of when the show is coming back but because it's often reserved for the panel itself at Comic-Con! It's set to be a star-studded affair with plenty of stars in attendance.

Those confirmed as being present so far are Andrew Lincoln, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Lennie James, Seth Gilliam, Alanna Masterson, Khary Payton and Chandler Riggs, and they will be joined by executive producers Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert as well as showrunner Scott Gimple and creator Robert Kirkman.

In The Walking Dead comic books, Glenn met his maker in the 100th issue so it remains to be seen if the show will feature a similarly shocking death. What do you guys think? Share your thoughts below.

Shocking Deaths aren't as shocking anymore.
Maybe that's why Negan lives in the comics.
If everyone dies, does anyone really die?

@ODanil - Well....it's part of the comics. It makes sense for the character and how he got him, big part of the character actually.

This looks exactly like the previous 7 seasons. Oh wait, it's a little cloudy so I guess that's the only difference.

I know a lot of people aren't into the show anymore but I feel it's the best it's been since season 1 at the moment. Season 2 is the only season of the show I considered 'bad'. Other seasons have been far too slow but always great if you can put up with that element. I enjoy the show best with a good villain. I loved the Governor and I love Negan. And unlike the first few seasons, the show is now made up of a great cast full of characters I love. First few seasons had Andreas and Dales and TDogs and Shanes (love bernthal but hated his character, as I guess we were meant to). Anyway this show is about survival and what it does to people. I think it explores that in great fashion. Whereas a lot of people found them arriving at Alexandria dull, I found it a fascinating look at characters struggling to fit in to normal societal living again after adapting to the wild.

Kirkman should end this show and move on to other interests. Same with the actors. They are a great bunch and have depth.

My thoughts on the current state of the show and this uninspired poster.

The Walking Dead used to have some serious greatness in it; all the way up to Season 6, even. But it's actually only had a couple of truly great seasons imo. 1, 2, and 5.
3 was mostly great, 4B was a slog, 6 built up to nothing but had some standout episodes, and I haven't even finished 7, which says everything (that Tara episode was the last straw).
I truly love this show and it's characters but they need to do something to kick back into high gear with their storytelling.

On the other side of the coin, Fear TWD has been consistently killing it for awhile. Season 1 was a pretty okay slow burn, I'm glad it was short. 2 got better and better as it went along and 3A was stellar. It has officially one upped TWD with its characters, themes, and even production value. It has a quicker pace and aims to let you, as a viewer, know that it has a plan for its arc. Something WD has been failing at.

I might be the only one, but I'm looking more forward to where the next season of Death the Walking Dead will go. Because with that one there is no comic it follows so you never know what to expect.

In other Walking Dead news Telltale Games just confirmed they'll make one more Walking Dead game. Plus Batman and Fable are getting another game. I personally am the most excited to hear about A Wolf Among Us, because that game was one of my favorites from them.

I'm not among those fair weather fans that are like "The Walking Dead had one dull season so now I hate it and everything it's ever done" but I will say, a lot of characters need to be killed off. Not because of blood lust but because at this point the cast is so huge that I feel bad for the writers having to juggle all this stuff.

I liked season 2! Otherwise, yeah, I do agree that this last season was a dull, all over the place mess whose structure need not be repeated.
