THE WALKING DEAD Season Four Finale Sets Another Record With 15.7 Million Viewers

Following last night's superb season four finale of The Walking Dead, it should come as no surprise to learn that the show has once again broken records. Meanwhile, Alanna Masterson (Tara), Christian Serratos (Rosita) and Andrew J. West (Gareth) have been upped to series regulars for season five.

Last night’s season four finale of “The Walking Dead” set a new finale record, delivering 15.7 million viewers and 10.2 million adults 18-49. The dramatic episode anchored a record-breaking night on AMC, with the live “Talking Dead” aftershow delivering a series record 7.3 million viewers and 4.7 million adults 18-49. To cap the night, the third season finale of AMC’s “Comic Book Men” at midnight was watched by 1.1 million viewers and 715,000 adults 18-49.

Season four set a new viewership record for “The Walking Dead,” averaging 13.3 million live/same day viewers per episode and 8.6 million adults 18-49, an increase of +24%/+22% over the season three average.

“The linear television business is Dead and well,” said Charlie Collier, AMC president. “Thanks to Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, the other terrific executive producers and the entire cast, crew and network for working together to bring the fans (myself included) another unforgettable season of ‘The Walking Dead.’ To see this show serve as the centerpiece of a truly historic night on AMC is truly gratifying. So many played a role in this success, across all three shows, in giving the fans a reason to continue to return in ever-greater numbers. And so we say, until next fall, ‘Welcome to Terminus.’”

Following the 9 pm premiere of “The Walking Dead,” AMC presented “Talking Dead,” at 10 pm. Hosted by Chris Hardwick, the most-watched “Talking Dead” episode in series history featured Executive Producer and showrunner Scott Gimple and, for the first time on the show, Andrew Lincoln.

According to The Hollywood Reporter meanwhile, Alanna Masterson (Tara), Christian Serratos (Rosita) and new arrival Andrew J. West (Gareth) have all been upped to series regulars for season five of the hit series. Unfortunately, it's unlikely we'll hear much more now until the first trailer is unveiled at Comic-Con. What did you guys think of this year's finale?

Excellent finale. I haven't read the books so I suppose that is where some of the mixed reviews are coming from. The allusions (not so subtle) to cannibalism were cool and this has me stoked for next season.

Great show hands down, the final show was a solid episode but to me it was not a great season finale.

They don't know about the cannibal thing yet. So, they're going to (unknowingly) eat Beth, when their captors feed them in that train car.

My only complaint with last nights finale was that they needed to kill somebody off. They needed to create that emotional void in people to carry into next season. I still think the episode was very good but it needed something extra.

Gmoney84 - What are you talking about someones did die in the show the Bikers got worked on real good and the pig-man squealed like a pig. That's was some fun emotional therapy on my end and brought back badass Rick.

the crew looked so down, sad and terrified when they saw Rick. looks like they ate the food they were fed when they were fixed a plate. We'll probably find out that they indeed did eat beth or someone else the might know.

The season finale was good. It was the rest of the season that sucked. It was just too boring until the very end there. Carl eating pudding, Rick hiding under a bed, Beth looking for a drink, Glen walking through a tunnel. It was just a long string of boring episodes. Didn't really start to pick up until Carol killed Lizzie.

That finale was awesome.
It did what most shows fail to..it left you wanting more immediately.

I love how the situations keep getting worse & worse,it's why we watch.
The minute things get complacent..it fails. It's gonna be a long wait.

I really like Beth but it would be a bold & great idea to NEVER show her again.
Really drive home the point that the world is very bad now but as before the zombies, bad things happen regardless.

It was brilliant
I hate seasons that end
i want this on my screen every week
Each episode of this series just emphasised the shit they have had to go through
and the tough decisions to be made.

How many months do i have to wait now......oh my.
