Well that was one hell of a mid-season finale if you ask me. The Walking Dead may have its flaws from time to time, but this episode was so well crafted. They designed it so that you kept asking questions, and every time you thought you knew the answer, you were wrong. At least I was constantly guessing wrong, and I loved it.

If you asked me if Shane would live to see another season, I would've said no. Then Shane and Dale are squaring off. The tension is as ripe as a strawberry in June. When the scene began I expected Shane dead, as the scene near it's conclusion I was sure that Dale was dead. Nope, and double nope, this should like I said before had me drawing false conclusions left and right.

We heard earlier in the week that a member of the cast, loyal to Frank Darabont was on the chopping block, and Jeffrey DeMunn (Dale) would fit that description. But, to be fair the actresses that play Carol and Andrea could just as easily be included in that mix.

Then we got to the final scene with the barn that differs from the comic books. The Shane element to the story has clearly created an alternate universe for this television show.

We finally had resolution with lost Sophia. Thank god they found her! That's the good news. Wait, there's bad news? Yeah, seems the little rugrat became a walker. Surprised? Yup!

And now we have a new conflict. When did Hershel know that a little girl walker was added to the barn? We know Hershel wanted to keep the barn a secret from the group, but letting Rick's people go out day after day was risky when there was a good chance that the little girl walker could be in fact be Sophia.

The Walking Dead will return Sunday February 12th, 2012 at 9pm ET on AMC.

Hershel must have known that Sophia was in the barn but I think he is just a douche. I would rather be led by Rick but I agree with Shane's way of dealing with things better.

@silverhawk... true Shane is crazy but he does make good decision lol. If he didn't open the barn they wouldn't had never found Sophia so yea.

@nailbiter111 I don't know if I'd say that Shane is making the "logical" choices. Rick knew that they need Hershel (the only "doctor") on their side, so he tried, (and likely would've succeed had it not been for Shane's actions), to resolve the situation by negotiating with Hershel. I don't think Shane has the ability to see the "long-term" consequences of his actions, where Rick does. And he proved at the end of the episode that he is willing to make "hard decisions" by shooting Sophia when no one else would.

@Grounded I would say the DVD release won't be until after season 2 officially finishes it's run in March or April, and it'll probably be a few months after that.

@nailbiter111 That's a good way to put it. I think that's what makes Rick the best leader for the group though, the fact that he'll only make the "unethical" decisions if he has no other choice. I think that's how it should be.

I think the reason I can't side with Shane is that I can see how much he is slipping into crazyville after how he was talking to Lori.

Shane may be a dick but "GOD DAMN", he was such a badass at the end. That dude had me on the edge of my sofa and gave me goosebumps. It sucks we dont get no new episodes until February. Also killing Sophia was so sad. Boardwalk Empire and Walking Dead have me pumped tonight.

Yeah sucks what happened to Sophia. But what a crazy twist and entertaining. I think Shane will die before the season is up and kind of has to with the surprise that happens after his death and would be crazy twist at the season finale.

Hot dog! Love this show! Very sad Sophia bought the farm. I still don't think Hershal knew about Sophia, because Otis was the one taking Walkers to the barn on his own. I guess we'll see.

Sophia was supposed to survive longer then her mother. She did in the comic anyway.

If you want the show to be just like the comic then you'll be disappointed.
The show must be as good as the comic, or even better.
I was kinda annoyed by the changes, but maybe all these changes make even a better story. That's what I hope.. So far, so good.

On Talking Dead Kirkman explained that Hershel didn't know she was in the barn since it was Otis's job to wrangle them into the barn in the first place. Since Shane kinda offed off Otis early on, no one in the farmhouse knew he had found her.

kinda surprised, but loved this ep. I think Shane is loud, volatile, and dangerous, but this group needs him. I know they have Daryl, but Shane is needed to. I even think T-Dogg is needed the only one I could do without is Dale

They've strayed too far from the spirit and story of the source material. A few changes here and there to keep people guessing is understandable and, in fact necessary, for a show like this, but I'm afraid I will no longer be watching it.

Tonight's episode wasn't a cliffhanger for me - it was a curtain call.

What made the books so great and endearing has been crapped on. Too many characters left out. Too many plot elements left out. Too many alterations made as results of other alterations and the whole point of the books is lost.

They optioned for this series because of the success of the comics. The comics were successful because of the characters' interactions with one another and the drama that existed in this world where society has crumbled and people had to hang on to their sanity by narrow threads. Good people had to barter with their morals to survive. Where is that? The twins are gone (both sets), and now Sofia is gone. There really isn't a next generation theme any more.

In the comics, there was always this struggle to make their place in the world again because of the constant reminder of the children's presence. They screwed the pooch big time when Darabont left or was asked to leave - whatever the story.

It's now being written by people who have no respect for the source material. I don't believe I'll be watching it any more, and thus I don't care about it's success.

First off what the hell is a "mid-season finale" ? Sounds like a oxy-moron. Other than watching people hanging out on the farm and sneaking off to have sex not much has happened! I hope like hell the second half of this "mid-season" waypoint is lot better than the first.....
