According to Deadline, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey have been cast in the pilot for AMC's The Walking Dead companion series, which is to be directed by Adam Davidson (The Day Trippers). The show will be set around the same time as events of The Walking Dead but take place in a different location, and will focus on a male divorced teacher and a female guidance councillor trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. Apparently Dillane and Debnam Carey will play this unnamed woman's son (who has a drug problem) and daughter (described simply as "ambitious"). There are no more details on their roles at this time. Dillane, 23, is a British actor best known for playing Owen Coffin in In The Heart of the Sea and Tom Riddle Jr. in Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince. Aussie Debnam Carey has appeared in movies such as The Devil's Hand and Into The Storm

Sounds pretty cool, I hope it airs during the summer so I have another Walking Dead show to watch while the main one is off!

That probably won't happen though...

These Walking Dead guys cannot cast at all. Especially for an AMC show.

Walking Dead spin-off? I'd rather see a prequel series or a series on Morgan

Anything about The Walking Dead im in! All though a one season prequel with the major characters and explanation of the virus would be awesome!

@Wildaniel - that still bums me out....

come to think about it the only deaths that have bummed me out really have been Hershel, Laurie (only because of Carl and Rick...didn't like her much), and now Beth.

drives me crazy that they drew it out forever to just kill her in the end.

Well, I love TWD so why not more? And if it's good (which it has every reason to be so) the imminent crossover event will be amazing. I won't complain...

@Grodd87 "Does anyone think Morgan will be in the spinoff"

I thought about that, but I think AMC is apprehensive casting him as a lead in another series after how awfully received Low Winter Sun was. Sure it's apples to oranges bc this is a spin-off, but it's a cause for concern, no?
