During this past weekend's New York Comic-Con, AMC announced that the second season of its Daryl-centric spin-off show would be known as The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol, and just in case the title didn't give it away, Melissa McBride is officially set to reprise the role of Carol Peletier when the series returns next year.

As you may recall, the show was originally envisioned as a Daryl and Carol spin-off before McBride decided to step away when she couldn't commit to filming overseas.

“I’ve known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story as I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away,” McBride said in a statement when her return was announced. “Apart or (hopefully!) together, their stories run deep, and I’m so excited to continue Carol’s journey here. This team of storytellers have done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries!”

Carol actually showed up at the end of the recent season 1 finale after tracking down the current owner of Daryl's motorcycle and "persuading" him to tell her where her long-time friend was last seen.

Now, AMC has released a brief teaser promo for season 2, which will premiere at some point next year.

The footage shows Carol continuing her search, before running into Manish Dayal's still unnamed character, who asks her whether she'd "give up everything to look for someone you haven't met"? We then see Carol in a car that's been swarmed by walkers (will a familiar face come to her rescue?)

When last we saw Daryl, he was about to catch a boat and begin his journey back to America, when the sudden appearance of Laurent (watch out of the walkers, kid) seemingly gave him second thoughts.

Check out the teaser below.

In The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Daryl washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan.”

Along with Norman Reedus, the series stars Clémence Poésy, Adam Nagaitis, Anne Charrier, Eriq Ebouaney, Laika Blanc Francard, Romain Levi, and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi. Gimple executive produces along with series showrunner David Zabel, Reedus, Greg Nicotero, Angela Kang, Bockrath, and Daniel Percival.

Have you been watching Daryl Dixon? If so, what did you make of the first season?

Finished Daryl Dixon last night. Meh. It's better than recent Walking Dead, but still just more of the same. It's also a shameless rip-off of The Last of Us.

I still can't believe they found a way to continue this show long after it already should've ended.

I just finished the original show's 11 seasons ans loved all of them. Some were better than others, but overall it was a good show and ended strongly. Personally, the only spin-off we should've gotten was the Rick one, as that feels like it has an actual story worth telling, and isn't an unnecessary extra like the other two spin-offs released this year.

@Th3Batman - these spin offs might all converge. That's my hope anyway. Not very trusting of Gimple
