THE WALKING DEAD's Emily Kinney On What's Next For 'Beth'

This past Sunday's ep of AMC's The Walking Dead saw the return of a character who's been missing (presumed dead by some) since the end of last season, Beth Green. THR spoke to actress Emily Kinney about Beth's new-found "fearlessness", plus, check out some pics from a recent photoshoot.

This Sunday's instalment of The Walking Dead was seen as taking a bit of a dip in quality compared the the previous season 5 episodes, but it did see the welcome return of young Beth Green (Emily Kinney). The poor lass was certainly put through the wringer (intimidation, frequent physical assaults, lollipop rape) but seemed to emerge from all of it a lot stronger and ready to do what she must to stay alive. Of course, whatever her plans were, they probably changed significantly when Carol was wheeled in on that gurney. While speaking to THR, Kinney suggests that Officer Dawn and co. are not through punishing Beth for her rebelliousness, but they might just be f*cking with the wrong person.

"They're going to want to make her pay. They have this system of owing after take things or when you don't do things properly and this system of punishment. But it's funny because this whole system doesn't really matter to Beth. At the end of the episode, she's numb to it: "F— you, I don't care. I'm going to do what ever I want, if I want to scream, I'm going to do that." She's very fearless by the end of it and Dawn and Edwards can sense that — and it's scary for them. The thing they have over all those people there is that they say, "Well it sucks here, and we're treating you bad, but at least we're keeping you alive. And out there, you wouldn't be able to survive, but you have to adhere to our rules."

Kill. Beth.

Her episode ruined an amazing start to the season.

I really took in the writers comments on following the comics more this season. They had that going in the last few weeks until, of course, Beth.

She is just dragging the show down. Rick's group could have been on the road to DC and meeting Aaron next week if it weren't for Sunday's episode.

Ugh, sorry, but this is killing me.

I thought it was a great episode. Every close minded retard thinks every episodes has to be about "zombies" but thats NOT what the show is. Its about the characters not the undead. Jacka$$e$

Terrific episode. There actually needs to be more episodes geared to individual cast members like this one with Beth.
I believe Rick & The Governor had episodes where they had the spotlight.
Want more of it to really get connected with who they are.

I thought this episode was great. It was a nice change of pace from the previous episodes and Im glad we found out what happened to Beth sooner, rather than later.

Beth wasn't really a character I was particularly interested in previously.
Showing her on her own though, in this f'd up situation, realising that she has to step up and try to get herself out of it, really appealed to me.

Id like to think going forwards that Beth would be able to be a more vital, integral part of the group than she has been previously because of her experiences where she is now, more along the lines of Carol, maybe not more physically imposing, like some of the others like Daryl or Michonne but definitely more mentally capable and cunning.
I hope if she makes it out of this in one piece!

@NoPhucksGiven Yeah, that was some heavy, uncomfortable imagery right there.

I dont know If you have seen the remake of 'Cape Fear' with Robert De niro but there was a scene in that, between De Niro and Juliette Lewis that the lollipop scene reminded me of.

Pretty boring episode... I totally expected them to cut to Ricks crew halfway through but no, they had to stay with Beth for the whole episode.

@Gusto

I hope you fall off your shower chair and break a hip!

I will marry sebody far better than a shoe!

Well i guess it depends on the shoe...
There are some fancy/expensive feet gloves out there.

I forget my point....

[frick] you Gusto and i will settle for Carol.

She is sort of shoe like? I mean her skin looks leathery amd all

I didnt know she could levitate. She needs to teach me this power.

I thought the episode was really good. Her story hadnt been told since last season. It was time they dedicated an episode to finding out what happened to her. I am in agreeement with some that the whole enslaving all humans thing is getting old.
