The bbc have announced that guest staring in this years special will be Simon Pegg's best mate and owner of the great beard Nick Frost will be apart of this special which is currently filming in and around Wales of course we don't know anything about his character but Frost had this to say  “I'm so thrilled to have been asked to guest in the Doctor Who Christmas Special, I'm such a fan of the show. The read-through was very difficult for me; I wanted to keep stuffing my fingers into my ears and scream 'No spoilers!' Every day on set I’ve had to silence my internal fan-boy squeals!" . Also annoiunced as part of the guest cast are Natalie Gumede (Coronation Street, Ideal, Strictly Come Dancing), Faye Marsay (Pride, The White Queen, Fresh Meat) and Nathan McMullen (Misfits, Casualty) and if that wasn't enough the son of the second doctor played by Patrick Troughton Micheal Troughton who has returned to acting will also be appearing this image was also seen on social network sites.

I've only seen the first two episodes of this season.

I get the feeling this wasn't meant as a jumping on point for new fans.

@mcgee if you want a jumping off point i suggest watching blink

Still....the lead seems better than the last two Doctors. Seems less like a chick show.

Dude....funny you should say that!

I just recorded the episode "Blink" a day ago on my DVR because someone said it features a cool villain. :D

@McGee: If you don't enjoy "Blink" you should pretty much give up on Doctor Who. It's arguably the strongest single episode from the modern series, and requires no familiarity with Who history.

Season One's "Rose" or Season Five's "Eleventh Hour" would be better places to jump on, I think, since they're both new Doctors meeting new companions for the first time.

@Rexdarteskimospy personally i'd go with "rose" or the tv movie

Well that settles it.

I'm watching the episode tonight with the lights off....if my friends don't want to hang out and I don't feel like fapping.
