After Monday's first episode of Doctor Who's eighth season, a promo video as well as some stills and a synopsis have been released, teasing the second episode of the series, titled "Into the Dalek".

BBC's Doctor Who is a great show, and I can't wait to see what will happen in the future! I just finished the third season, but am doing my best to catch up, and from what I've seen from Capaldi's Doctor, it looks amazing. After Monday's "Deep Breath", a new promo and some stills have made their way online for the next episode, in which the Doctor will face some of his greatest foes yet. The Daleks...




A Dalek fleet surrounds a lone rebel ship, and only the Doctor can help them now… With the Doctor facing his greatest enemy, he needs Clara by his side. Confronted with a decision that could change the Daleks forever, he is forced to examine his conscience. Will he find the answer to the question, 'am I a good man?'

I miss when the Doctor would have companions from different eras in time. Now days they are all modern companions. Give us someone from the far future again. Give us someone from the past.

Looks good, really enjoyed Deep Breath, was very refreshing in terms of tone and pace, and Capaldi's already great in the role.

How come they're using the Russell T. Davies era Daleks so much though? They were redesigned in Matt Smith's first encounter with them, and then I think those new versions appeared one more time before the old bronze versions suddenly came back and the newer, colourful ones were never seen again.

Hopefully Capaldi is less stiff in this episode than the last. Also, what was with the multiple sexual innuendos and slapstick humor? I get they are going for a "throwback feel" but it was too much for modern Sci-Fi.

@AC1 - Those Daleks were so criticized by the audience for "just a selling point for toys" that they decided to throw them out and use them only as higher level Daleks. Even then, they were just trying to phase them out.

It's a shame too because they fixed all the issues with the designs in Asylum. Not lining them up in a colorful pattern, and giving them a metallic car paint job instead of a plastic toy style, matte paint job. If they had fixed the hump in the back as well, that would've also benefited the design.

There was a really cool and classic Nu-wave style look to it. But ultimately it was too different from the designs of before and was thrown away.

It was a shame too because I've seen the episode and while it has a really great and imaginative script - the budget for the episode really doesn't do it justice. The presence of a stronger and taller Dalek or even Dalek army invading the scene would've worked.

We still haven't seen what a Dalek Paradigm hoard looks like, it could've been absolutely terrifying since they were more than 6 feet tall.

@jumpingtheshark I don't think Capaldi will be among your favorite Doctors then. There are episodes where he gets to ramble on for comedic reasons but for the most part Capaldi is cold, calculating, and quite the professor. He feels more like the 2000 year old Time Lord he says he is, and for some reason - starts to become a secondary character to Clara throughout the season.

As for the writing though, yea they are partly trying to refrain from being the childish sci-fi show that they've been like for the past 9 years (and to a lesser extent, the past 50 years) - it's still the same writer and it's still a children's sci-fi show. So the modern Doctor Who style writing remains in some form.

@KelvTwelve I am fine with Capaldi being cold, calculating and quite the professor. That's what I expected. Instead I got cheesy slapstick ... in a bad way. I wouldn't call modern Doctor Who a childish sci-fi show at all. Can children watch? Yes. However, the show and it's styling have a much broader appeal than children now more than ever. Either way I will continue to watch. I am sure like with all things Moffat that the major storyline will make the season better and more balanced.
