Trailer Released For The 2014 DOCTOR WHO Christmas Special

Last night's finale was full of twists as Peter Capaldi concluded his first full season as The Doctor, and he'll return this December in a Christmas special which also stars Nick Frost as...Santa Claus?!

The Doctor is an alien Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey who travels through all of time and space in his TARDIS. His current travel companion is Clara Oswald, though he has a long list of friends and companions who have shared journeys with him. Instead of dying, the Doctor is able to “regenerate” into a new body, taking on a new personality with each regeneration. Eleven actors, plus John Hurt, have played the Doctor thus far.

It's the North Pole, at Christmas, and there's trouble - who are you going to call?

I get that Clara will return for the Christmas special but that was no way to end the episode. Also why the [frick] would they kill off Osgood? I was hoping she'd be the next companion.

Thank god this season is over. Most unsatisfying season of Doctor Who in a long time. And this weekend's season finale was just a big let down. Just a lot of WTF-Why? moments and supposed-to-be big moments that didn't feel earned and fell flat. The only interesting thing was what happened to General Lethbridge-Stewart and the open ending to his fate.

Of the new series, Capaldi is my favorite Doctor (I would rank them Capaldi, Tennant, Eccleston, Smith). Missy was an amazing villain. The best episode of this entire season (at least in my opinion)was episode 4, "Listen."

@NerdMan At what point was this show grounded in actual science???

EzioKenway1225- Forest episode was just awful, awful writing. College students could write better scripts than that.

Anyway, did anyone else find the outbreak of dancing pedo-bears in this week's episode of Haven bizzarly funny?

@Chaud You know who is no longer dead? General Lethbridge-Stewart. He flew off all Iron-Man like near the end of the episode. That was the one interesting thing I liked about the season finale. I want to see where that goes.

@Chaud He should get a spin-off comic. Going undercover as a Cyberman to take the enemy down from within. That is so something the Brigadier-General would do. And it would probably make a better story than half this season.

I for one live for those "(frick) yeah Doctor moments" as I call them. I've been waiting for Capaldi to have one.

"The Parting of the Ways"

"Forest of the Dead"

"The End of Time"

"The Eleventh Hour"

"The Big Bang"

"Flatline"

@Chaud, @ScionStorm
I can't be the only one who wants to see Cyber-Brigadier team up with Rusty.

But why did they have to kill Danny? I really liked him... No, I really loved him. He was one of the only Nu-Who male companions (besides Jack and Mott) who wasn't a complete buffoon. I'm glad they threw Santa in there at the end to lighten the mood a bit, but I'm still pretty devastated about how everything went down...

Why, Moffat, why?

@Chaud
I found the Doctor's dismissal of soldiers this season to be very bigoted and as someone from a military family who feels very strongly about supporting the troops it just sat with me wrong. It felt like an agenda from the writing staff and that upset me because the Doctor always seemed to differentiate the "military mindset" from the "soldiers" before this season. So when Danny stood up to him and held a mirror up to the Doctor's face it was very refreshing for me. That line where he said something like, "He's the one that starts the fire, I'm the one who carries you out", was a very good moment for me. I can't remember the last time a male companion stood up to the Doctor or was even capable of doing so in Nu Who and as a man that frustrates the hell out of me because they force the female companions down everyone's throats with them challenging the Doctor every week. I think back to the First Doctor and Ian and how they had a very interesting dynamic, working together while bickering constructively, and that I enjoyed. I wish that Nu Who could find some way of emulating that, but it seems unlikely for the time being.

You mentioned Pink being a "controlling child" but that's pretty much what Clara is in my mind. Danny only wanted to help Clara and support her, but she was divvying up the deception so much that not even she remembered which lies she told to which person and that was very immature and unnecessary considering he just wanted honesty. Clara is just an absolutely insufferable character, her pain and anger in "Kill the Moon" was just forced and completely ridiculous and I had hoped they would take a break from the character for a while but then she showed up the next week without missing a beat. Moffat really sucks at creating likeable companions and Danny was definitely an improvement in my mind. He was a good man, even a hero, and I'm glad the Doctor came around to respecting him and even admiring him in the end.

I agree about what you said about the late great Nicholas Courtney, I just thought it might be cool if Cyber-Brigadier and Rusty teamed up and declared war on all the Cybermen and all the Daleks everywhere. That could be a movie in and of itself!
