ARROW Star Stephen Amell Debunks Batman Cameo Rumor

Earlier today, movie news site IMDB hinted that a certain billionaire playboy vigilante would appear later in the season. Amell took to Facebook to comment. Here's what he had to say.

Under the synopsis for Arrow Season 2 Episode 21, IMDB had this written:
"Oliver gets a business opportunity from a famous billionaire in the neighboring Gotham City."

I first heard the news while reading a review for last nights episode, and geeked the bleep out. However, Oliver Queen himself says something else. Taking to a post on Facebook, he simply said "No."

Another episode had a reference to Scarecrow making an appearence. Clearly, someone is trying to get us fired up. I'd love to see Batman on Arrow, but I don't think the WB Movie Execs would!

I'd say we have a while before a big-league character such as Batman shows up. However, I considered Flash a big-league character, so its possible for a Batman appearence. Perhaps, if the powers-that-be decide the TV DCU and film DCU should not crossover, we'll get a version of Batman for the Arrowverse.

He is correct, if you looked at the show listings they are all blank except for two. One referencing the Scarecrow and the other referring to Gotham.

I actually wanted to put that in the article but it slipped my mind. That just shows how made up it is.

They will never show Batman for two main reasons.

1. WB will never put their cash cow on a TV show

2. They do not want to upstage their star character Arrow.

I could see them visiting Gotham and showing either Nightwing, Robin, or even Oracle to tie this into the movies.

Also it would be awesome for them to have the head of these companies come together to help rebuild Metropolis.

THIS IS NOT NEWS.

Anybody with even a shred of common sense would know how ridiculously stupid that rumor was.

Well not to brag but I am a pretty bright person, and I fell for it fast and hard. I did not know that IMDB can be edited by anyone who has an account with them.

So I think it is great that Stephen A. debunked it before it really got out of hand.

Well since it ain't a spoiler...... The Scarecrow one said something about "Oliver having bad dreams about the island due to the Scarecrow's fear toxin"

With as good as Arrow is I feel it'd be a mistake for DC/WB to, if not at least reference the bigger DC characters, tie the show into the movieverse.

Might Be Thomas Wayne, Isn't Arrow Like Way Older Than Bats?

We don't even need to see Bruce Wayne I jsut want a reference to his existence. Or better yet a reference to another vigilante in Gotham City who dresses as a bat. They could even joke around about it saying that whoever dresses as a bat has to be nuts.

They'll never put live action Batman on WB. His ass belongs to Fox right now.

@rabid, ummm...I doubt that is true. The Fox show is a prequel, happening at least 20 years in the past. So that shouldn't be an issue. Also, this isn't a case of DC/WB selling their rights to a character. They are producing a show, and putting the show on Fox. WB retains the rights to the characters, so they can use them however they want. About the only issue would be if Fox had a modern-day (not 20 years ago) Bruce Wayne on their show and WB wanted the same actor to do a crossover on Arrow, or wanted Amell to crossover onto the Fox show. For that to happen, they would probably need permission from the networks, which they probably would get. (In the last episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, David Boreanaz did a crossover as Angel, even though by then Buffy was on UPN and Angel was on the WB.)

On the last episode of Arrow, you see the Kord Industries logo right before Ollie blows up the centrifuge.
