This was a bit of an up and down week in the comic book television genre.

It all started on Monday when Supergirl ratings (1.7) dropped for the second straight week since it’s record-setting premier — losing half a point from episode two. While a drop off was to be expected from the large audience that tuned in for the series premier, I think CBS would have liked the number to remain closer to 2.0. That said,Supergirl only lost about 700k viewers (8.17M), keeping their total audience above the 8 million mark which ranks it among the top Monday night dramas. This is probably due to the show pulling in a younger audience than the measured 18-49 demographic.

Gotham — which also aired on Monday — was a rock this week, remaining relatively steady in both ratings (1.5) and viewers (4.14M), dropping off just a bit in both categories as they continue to deliver solid episodes, in a much improved sophomore season.

Tuesday was a tale of two shows, as both The Flash and Agents of SHIELD showcased major villains. The Flash was rewarded for Barry’s epic, and one-sided, showdown with Zoom, as they hit their ratings high for a second straight week (1.5). Unfortunately, Agents of SHIELD didn’t have such luck. Their exploration of Dr. Garner’s Lash transformation didn’t translate to ratings as the show dropped for the third straight week (1.3) and only pulled in 3.52 million viewers — both season lows.

Wednesday saw the return of Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer on Arrow. Matt Ryan’s Constantine boosted the show in ratings last week, but they couldn’t hold the audience during a very Felicity-heavy episode. Arrow also saw season lows in both ratings (0.9) and viewers (2.28M). Personally, I think that the continuous set-up forLegends of Tomorrow is really hurting Arrow. While this season has been a vast improvement from season three, I feel they haven’t been able to successfully set up their villain and his motivations.

Hopefully next week sees a return to form for some of the shows on this list. But if not, we can all take solace in the fact that next Tuesday sees the return of Grodd!

Bear in mind, Supergirl, Gotham, and SHIELD all get a significant ratings bump just by airing on major networks. Hell, Constantine got ratings comparable to Flash, and NBC considered it a failure while Flash was a humongous hit for the CW.

It's pissing me off that Supergirl is getting lauded as some forward-thinking feminist show when SHIELD has multiple strong female characters from the very beginning.

@RexDartEskimoSpy Don't take it as people don't liking a Female leader series, i don't like characters like Superman and Supergirl, but my father likes then, just even he said this week that he won't watch Supergirl anymore. So there is something in the series itself that makes it have the down in rating that it has.

Too bad the last AoS episode didn't do too well, cause it was easily the best one of this season so far. Very well written, decently acted (ahh, who the hell decided many of those people were actors???)...

I can't believe people are actually watching the tragedy that is Supergirl. Maybe DC should re-release Catwoman and maybe Marvel can re-release Elektra. Those two movies are infinitely better than Supergirl.

Disappointing about the low ratings for AOS. I wonder how much longer i has? I just hope that when they decide to end the show, they give it a proper ending that ties up any loose ends.

Everything this season has been a good improvement over last, and a great start for Supergirl.

Having said that,, I find myself looking forward to Flash the most every week, as it simply is the most fun and entertaining for me out of all, while having a kickass mystery about an incredibly fast villain, great cgi for a tv show and multiverse interactions.

[frick]ing brilliant

The show I look the most forward to every week is Arrow, but I end up being most impressed with AoS, then Flash, then Arrow. I'm letting Supergirl episodes build up, to binge, since I didn't enjoy the pilot enough to try and keep up with this show every week.

Slightly surprised at the high views of supergirl but i guess it's because it's on a major network. If the flash was on one of those major chs it would get more views. I'm shocked that AOS hasn't gotten canceled they've lost 3/4 of there viewers. The numbers dropped significantly but seemed to have stabled around 3m. It has to be because its marvel otherwise i am almost positive they would get canceled. Took a while but i think AOS is getting better, i stuck with it and am actually starting to enjoy it. Flash deserves more views, i dropped arrow mid last season, its just too cheesy. Supergirl looks promising, but will have to see..
