As production begins on many of next seasons comic book based TV shows, EWs spoiler room has revealed new details on Lucy Lawless's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D character teasing her relationship with Coulson and Victoria Hand. 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' is looking to the pages of Marvel Comics as the ABC show heads into its second season. Not only is the show introducing foe The Absorbing Man and the heroine Mockingbird but also S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Isabelle Hartley. Hartley, who will be played by Spartacus actress Lucy Lawless will have a history with SH.I.E.L.D. boss Phil Coulson. Maurissa Tancharoen says the pair share more of a 'mutual respect' than a romantic past. Fellow EP Jed Whedon hinted that Isabelle Hartley might just be the same Isabelle who dated the now deceased boss of The Hub, Victoria Hand saying 'there is always a chance.' Could she have revenge on her mind following Victoria Hands death? Whedon does however say that 'when we meet her, she might not necessarily be on the right side of things'.

With Felicity receiving an episode devoted to her in Arrow's third season, Executive Producer Marc Guggenhiem has revealed that the 6th episode of the season 'is very much a Roy centric episode that deals very directly with Roys place on the team and particularly Oliver's relationship with Roy.' This might just be the episode in which Roy finds out he killed someone last season, or does he adopt the Arsenal mantle for good? In regards to Roy's place on the team, Guggenheim says that after a turbulent season for Roy, he's on equal footing with Felicity and Diggle.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC on the 23rd of September with Arrow airing on October 8th on The CW.

If Roy finds out he killed someone melodrama will ensue for the rest of the season.

The way the blurb for this post was worded, I expected to find out that Coulson, Hand and Hartley were a threesome back in the day. That would be a whole lot more interesting than what they've probably got planned. Revenge is a boring motivation.

Lawless needs to play Hand's ex. It's the perfect way to introduce her and Lucy has a massive fan base that will guarantee some decent ratings. Have her play a lesbian character and women will tune in in droves. Queer women LOVE Lucy Lawless.

As much as I would love that, I very much doubt Marvel is gonna give us an LGBT character. :(

@TalkinSoftball - the acting is pat of the show's charm. This is totally "CBM meets 90210." If you can accept that and appreciate it for the melodramatic guilty-pleasure delight that t is, you'll find yourself enjoying it more. It's not "The Dark Knight" -- it's closer to "Sharknado"... but still awesome.

@CherryBomb - I'm calling it now: August 23, 2014. The day you were wrong. It had to happen eventually.

LL has a huge LGBT fan base and they'll want take advantage of that. As a marketing person, I can tell you that this is a SIGNIFICANT demographic that they want to tap into. And it won't hurt them given the core audience they're targeting in the first place. It's happening.

@CherryBomb

I think that Marvel has a better track record with LGBT content (see DC's handling of Batwoman's gay wedding) than DC. And DC's TV shows are set to feature even more queer content this fall. Arrow has Sara, Nyssa and Sin (not out but definitely implied) and Flash is set to have two gay male characters. Victoria Hand is one of only a handful of lgbt characters they can really introduce (a ton of the lgbt characters seem to be mutants and tied up with FOX). And they pretty much killed Hand to prove Ward is evil. But since they seem intent on redeeming him eventually they can at least introduce Hand's bad ass ex girlfriend who has the potential to be an incredibly important role in the MCU re: diversity.

Fans always talk about Black Panther and Captain Marvel, but we aren't gonna get The Runaways, Young Avengers or even an Alpha Flight movie anytime soon...

You are totally right! (Not that I don't love @Cherrybomb)

It seems Marvel is using their TV properties to dip their toes in the water for diversity. And from a marketing stand point taking a woman best known for a show with a bigger Lesbian following than The L Word who also happens to have mad geek cred, how can you not have her play gay?

'Isabelle Hartley former girlfriend of HYDRA victim Aget Victoria Hand clashes with Director Coulson over the fate of the traitor Grant Ward.'

I am literally moist at the thought of this! It would be a perfect episode and give a ton of attention to the show.
