CREATURE COMMANDOS Star Sean Gunn Teases G.I. Robot's Nazi-Hunting Mission In DCU Animated Series (Exclusive)

Sean Gunn is currently busy stealing the show in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but when we caught up with the actor to discuss his roles as Rocket and Kraglin, we made sure to also ask about his DCU future.

After previously playing Calendar Man and Weasel in The Suicide Squad, Gunn will reprise the latter role in Creature Commandos. The animated HBO Max series will also see him lend his voice to G.I. Robot, a character we may eventually see brought into a live-action setting based on comments from James Gunn.

"I love that project," Sean says of Creature Commandos"The scripts are so good and we’ve already been doing a little recording which is fun. I can hint and tease that we’re going to learn a little more about Weasel which is going to be interesting."

"I just love GI Robot so much. He’s driven by one thing and one thing only, which is his hatred of Nazis and his desire to kill as many Nazis as possible," he continues in the video below. "So, for me, as somebody who hates fascism in all its forms, I can relate to somebody who wants to get out there and put the smackdown on some Nazis."

It sounds like a fun role for the Vol. 3 star, and as Creature Commandos will be among the first DCU projects we see next year, the show will likely help set the tone for what's to come.

Sean and James have been working together since long before Guardians of the Galaxy was released in 2014, so the fact they're collaborating in the DCU shouldn't come as a surprise. Talking about what it's been like to share his career with his brother, Sean made it clear he's incredibly proud of the new DC Studios co-CEO.

"I would say that, being able to work with my brother and see how his career has evolved has been one of the greatest joys of my own career. We root for each other and, seeing how great the work is he’s been doing and being able to continue with has just been wonderful."

"I’ll always be there when he needs me for something and, when he doesn’t, I’ll be there in the front row rooting him on."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now playing in theaters. You can find Sean on Twitter @seangunn and on Instagram @thejudgegunn

@LordHarryLatts - I'm now curious to see how it will tie into the movies (and games) since that's part of Gunn's plan

@LordHarryLatts - Agreed, I feel like that Superman movie would be a good place to start. It’s like starting off the MCU with Guardians of the Galaxy or Ant-Man.

@LordHarryLatts - I feel like this and the Waller show are more or less just leftovers from the last regime tbh, I remember Gunn talking about working on two projects related to The Suicide Squad and Peacmaker a little while after the first season Peacemaker had come out.

Nazism is horrific.
But people today have used the word so often out of context that they probably wouldn’t recognize a real nazi if they saw one.

@HulkisHoly - completely agreed. would be interesting to learn who Sean defines as being a fascist considering he is “somebody who hates fascism in all its forms”…

He’s probably spout off nonsense like Trump, the Proud Boys or any patriotic person. 🙄

I couldn't care less about this show. Of all the great characters and interesting comics that DC has, so many legendary moments that they could've pick, this seems a pick made just for the sake of trying to be "different".

Looking forward to this,DC should do more horror, how cool would a House Of Mystery or House Of Secrets horror show be on HBOMAX.

Knowing Gunn, and that this was a pre-DCU passion project of his, I could see this being Invincible levels of gore.
