Gotham has never really stuck to the comic books in terms of origin stories and the appearance of characters and it appears as if Bane will be no exception. While the set photo we saw yesterday made it clear that this version of the Batman villain will be a cross between the one we saw in The Dark Knight Rises and something totally new, this official promo image is, well, even weirder.
Shane West is playing the character and it's said that this version of Bane will be introduced as Eduardo Dorrance, a former Army friend of Jim Gordon's, who is gradually transformed into the supervillain. In this image, he's presumably already undergone that bizarre transformation.
It makes sense that Bane is pictured among fiery wreckage here because season five of Gotham is set to adapt the "No Man's Land" storyline from the comic books in which Gotham City is isolated from the rest of the country by the United States government. It's also been reported that we'll get a "Break the Bat" moment when Bane attacks Alfred Pennyworth.
