GOTHAM Producers Promise A Batsuit Similar In Appearance To THE DARK KNIGHT RISES For The Finale

Since day one, Gotham has been teasing the eventual arrival of Batman and while the young Bruce Wayne donned a pretty terrible looking prototype costume in the season three finale, the real deal will come when the show ends. Now, showrunner John Stephens has said that they're well aware about the expectations which come with getting the suit right and he also revealed its main inspiration.

"I think it’s more matte. It’s inspired by, if I had to compare to any one costume, I’d say it’s closer to The Dark Knight Rises," he teased. The Smallville finale basically just re-used Brandon Routh's Superman Returns suit so it's feasible that Gotham will do something similar. Stephens, however, made it clear that they're spending a lot of money on ensuring that fans don't end up being disappointed.

"It’s a little more metallic Bat battle-y looking rather than something like the Suicide one or the Affleck one. How much money can we allocate towards spending on this costume because it’s got to look good. Because you don’t want to spend five years, and all of a sudden go, ‘Great episode, but that was a really crappy looking costume.’ There’s a lot of pressure, but luckily our wardrobe department is amazing so all the designs they’re doing are going to be great. And we went with short ears."

Batman has worn a lot of different costumes over the years and it will be interesting seeing where Gotham ranks, especially as the show has a habit of disappointing fans when it comes to how certain villains have been portrayed. What do you guys think? Share your thoughts on that down below.

@ThePeterCipher - Hopefully they have a suit that will make David look bigger, but wont be too padded

@dracula - I thought he would get a separate actor in the final.

Heard they were using the Batman Begins suit and repainting it, that would have worked well. But if they can pull off making their own costume, then that's great. Gotham is my favorite DC show, but was worried they wouldnt have a batsuit, and felt none of the film ones fit Gotham's tone, Batman Begins would work best, but if they couldnt get one, I was thinking they could have ended it like this

or something similar, but now that they will have a suit thats even better

@dracula - that seems right. Dont know why they brought up the smallville suit. It wasnt really the problem, more that we never got to see him in it.

Is that kid not gonna look ridiculous wearing the Bale suit. David Mazouz has a lot of growing up to do before he can fill out the Bat-suit. Its a good job they're not using the Bafleck suit from BvS ha.

@emeraldtaurus - they arent actually using the Bale suit. Also from what ive heard they might use a body double

@emeraldtaurus - The boy isnt wearing it, its taking a ten year step in the final.

@ThePeterCipher - the producers said they wont recast Bruce and Selina in the finale

@dracula - huh...that's gonna be strange. Nothing against them but i doubt they would look the same after ten years.
dracula
dracula - 10/12/2018, 2:53 AM
@ThePeterCipher - true, but with some make up it could work, plus wouldn't it feel a little strange to have watched them develop for 5 years, then for the final episode, just pass the roles off to some random actors. Plus they would need to find people who look like them and have good chemistry, and it would be hard to replicate the chemistry David and Camren have

@dracula - Eh...i get what you're saying. But i the episode before would be the final for that actor. It's the same character, and it would feel like a cherished moment seeing him become what he has become. I don't think it would be too hard to replicate the actors chemistry. Although i assume we won't see bruce wayne, as it would be easier just to have have him the batsuit.

@ThePeterCipher - Good. That actually sounds pretty clever. Fitting end to a decent show.

Well I haven't watched Gotham since the first season, but one of the things I liked about the show was its aesthetic. It felt hard to place specifically in time, and seemed to go from the 50s, 60s, to the 00s.

I was hoping they'd go for something that looks really classic and timeless. As classic comic book-y as possible because they show has a bit of camp to it too.

Something like this but in live action

The Dark Knight rises suit is a Batsuit trying to fit modern and realistic sensibilities. Same with the BvS one. They both won't work for Gotham.

@BlindWedjat - Agree they need to find a middle ground, cause they cant just go with tights like the 60's series, but I dont think any of the movie designs would fit Gotham's tone and style, good thing they are making their own suit
CaptainElrond
CaptainElrond - 10/12/2018, 2:39 AM
@BlindWedjat - I want that suit the in movies as well to be honest., Batflecks was on the right step, but it needs to be sleeker, less uber, with proper batman symbol and all.

@BlindWedjat - Gordon uses a clam shell flip phone. It's probably because he's old school, but it sure makes it seem like he's calling the late 90s.

I might watch the 45 seconds that they show batman.

@NathimusPrime - If you like Batman characters, you should try watching the more recent seasons. Batman is more than a Batsuit.

I was hoping they'd go something more Earth One.

@BritishMonkey - Not sure that would fit Gotham's tone and style

Replace Carmine with Oswald and do this for final scene
Nightwing1015
Nightwing1015 - 10/12/2018, 3:25 AM
So are they now not using the Batman Begins suit? I guess that rumour was false. Because from what this guy says, it sounds like their making it from scratch.
dracula
dracula - 10/12/2018, 3:29 AM
@Nightwing1015 - good, not sure any of the previous suits would fit Gothams style, Batman Begins probably comes the closest, but a new suit is best
Nightwing1015
Nightwing1015 - 10/12/2018, 3:35 AM
@dracula - The problem with that is that it might look cheap. I'd prefer they just use an existing one. One that looks good enough for a big budget movie. I don't want them to end up with something like this:
dracula
dracula - 10/12/2018, 3:39 AM
@Nightwing1015 - Get what you mean, hopefully it looks good, and if it looks cheap, hopefully they cover it with shadows

So they’re doing the Smallville. Ridonculus.
