It's great to see how Jerome evolves. If finally it ends up becoming the Joker, I hope that this moment is delayed until the end of the series because I love its slow metamorphosis.

He's not The Joker. The Executive Producer definitively stated that Jerome won't become The Joker and that he will be developed into his own thing. And really, should we be all that surprised? It was clear the moment he was killed in Season 2 that he was always meant to be a red herring.

The comment section won't let me post the link to the source, but here's the quote - "He's obviously not the Joker himself, although we clearly seems to be the impetus that eventually creates the Joker. The more that we see him, the more he carves out his own path I'd say. I wouldn't say he becomes more the Joker, but the Jerome character continues to evolve. I think that's what makes him so exciting is that he's not the Joker. He is Jerome."

@Darkknight2149 - They've said stuff in the past that they went back on or wasn't true. This means nothing. #JeromeIsTheJoker

When? Also, it's been evident for a while that Jerome probably was never intended to be the actual Joker (hence why they killed him off to begin with, only to bring him back by popular demand).

We can deny this all we want, but the Executive Producer's statement was as definitive and elaborate as you can get. He even stated that Jerome is being developed into his own character, which is very, very specific for a throwaway statement.

After faltering a little bit in the third season, Season 4 is shaping up to be the best season yet. And, for the first time since he became mayor, this episode single-highhandedly made The Penguin awesome again. I think the character is best when his power is challenged by major threat (Carmine Falcone, Maroni, Fish Mooney, Theo Galavan, Sofia Falcone, ETC). His falling in love and rivalry with The Riddler fell flat for me, as did his term as the mayor.

My only major complaint is Professor Pyg. I get that they wanted to make his identity a big reveal, but this plot twist just rendered a great character to silly in-name-only status. At this point, they should have just revealed his real name to be something other than "Lazlo Valentin" (which is also his name in the comics). How is it that Arkham Knight is the only accurate portrayal of this character?
