GOTHAM Voted "Most Promising New Show" By TCA; Plus New Banner

It remains to be seen if Fox's Batman prequel series is a hit with fans, but it's certainly won over critics, as the show was named "Most Promising" by the Television Critics Association. We also have a new banner featuring some of the burgeoning villains of Gotham.

In their second annual poll, the Television Critics Association have selected Fox's Gotham as the most promising series of the upcoming season, followed by The CW's Jane the Virgin and Showtime's drama The Affair. The upcoming DC Comics based show also topped the drama category, with The Affair landing in second place edging out How to Get Away With Murder. Of course getting over with critics is one thing, but how will fans react to some of the more glaring alterations to Batman mythos? We'll find out when Gotham premières on September 22. In the meantime, here's a new banner.

The series follows one cop, destined for greatness, as he navigates a dangerously corrupt city teetering between good and evil, and chronicles the rise of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes. The entirely new, untold chapter comes from executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”) and stars Ben McKenzie (“Southland,” “The O.C.”), Donal Logue (“Vikings,” “Sons of Anarchy”) and Jada Pinkett Smith (“Hawthorne,” “Collateral”).

Gotham kicks off Monday, September 22.

I'm just not liking anything I'm seeing. Bleeding Cool said it has the best comic book pilot of the year, but ComicsAlliance wasn't liking it. Those are two comic sources I trust, so we'll see how it goes, I guess.

As I've said before I'm giving this show a red hot chance.

Last year the TCA named Agents Of SHIELD "most promising," which I guess it was, in a "not living up to its potential" sort of way.

@shaddowkhan, why dont you watch it cause there is crap on top of crap on tv at the moment and if you like comics this should be right up your street, sure it ain't The Wire but set Gotham but come on people shitting on it already before seeing a single minute, so much hate for a show that could be entertaining, sure not as gripping and as well written as agents of shield but what is? and that isnt a knock on marvel just agents of shield, terrible show, Daredevil is where its at that I cant wait for...I pray its good.

This is the first positive thing I've heard about this. Other than that I'll watch the pilot and see what happens after that. But this is Fox, so I don't expect it to last more than one season.

I'll watch the first episode, but after that it depends. WHY WB decided NOT to connect one of their top two heroes in their stable to the DCCU is inexcusable and I'm not about to waste time with another Smallville.

That being said, it's sad that FOX is deciding to start this show off against quite possibly the toughest time slot this year. Last year's 'Most Promising New Show' Agents of Shield was on opposite NCIS last year. For the entire season ending May 2014, AOS ended at 43; NCIS at number 3.

'Gotham' will be annihilated by ESPN's Monday Night Football. It's ALSO up against 'Dancing With The Stars', 'Big Bang Theory', and 'The Voice'...2013's number two, five and seventh shows in all of television respectively.

I don't see it staying on FOX beyond a season if they're as trigger-happy with low rated shows as they've proven to be....but since FOX already has some 'Gotham' deal goin' on with NETFLIX I can totally see it being produced for future seasons in that format. We'll see, but I'm not optimistic.

Plus it cant be worse than that god awful AOS....hopefully they can link up to the movies more often cause their showrunners cant think of anything interesting away from the MCCU...

Haha...everything about this show looks horrible, save for Donal Logue. Jada Pinkett will kill this show almost singlehandedly...if that promo from yesterday is any hint.
