GOTHAM's Bruce Wayne To Find Out Identity Of Parents' Killer

GOTHAM's Bruce Wayne To Find Out Identity Of Parents' Killer

In some versions of Batman's origin story, Bruce Wayne never finds out who killed his parents. In others, it's the petty criminal Joe Chill who carries out the despicable deed. Gotham would appear to be set to follow the latter origin unless they surprise us with a killer other than Chill.

In an upcoming episode of Gotham, Bruce Wayne will discover who killed his parents.  Speaking to TV Guide, showrunner Bruno Heller revealed the news to the site but offered no further details.  Whether the show goes with the Joe Chill canon or decides to introduce someone else as the killer of Thomas and Martha Wayne remains to be seen.

In 1989's Batman, Tim Burton actually has a young Joker kill the Waynes.  Given the show's flirtation with depicting an origin story for the Clown Prince of crime, this could potentially be another avenue for the showrunners to take.

Gotham airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Odd that Silver blurted out "M. Malone," though. She claimed she made the name up but that name isn't random...

Is this really only coming back February, 29th? According to IMDB that's when the next episode airs. Really hope not. I need my Gotham back.

On the plus side, at least I can watch Supergirl as it airs now. Usually have to DVR it.

@AlternateNo4 - what's interesting about that is that "Mugs Malone" is an identity that Bruce uses when he goes undercover amongst the criminal element. He used the Malone alias in both the comics AND the 90s animated series.

Matches Malone.

@Omegacron i was thinking more about the guy @LordHarryLatts mentioned. Now that you mention it i DO remember the Mugs alias, but i think Matches is the better known one.

Besides i figure him killing his own parents while disguised as a 7 year old mugger is an unlikely plot twist...

@AlternateNo4 - yea, I just figure they're using the name. It might even turn out to be an alias for Joe Chill, which would be a twist.

And you & LordHarry are right - it was Matches Malone. Although I'd swear I know the name Mugs Malone from somewhere, too. You hit the 40's, the memory starts going.

I think it's Joe. He also goes by the nickname Chill, so it works out.

And then Young Bruce will confront Chill. Pulling off his Batman underroos and showing his identity to Joe Chill, showing him that he is responsible for creating............................oh yeah. Heh. They better not go that route!

With all do respect, this really is a news story that was already covered on this site with the exact same source. I'm not saying this to be rude, selfish or egotistical and I respect the work that was put into this article, but it shouldn't exist.
