DC's Legends of Tomorrow is proving to be one of next year's most anticipated comic book television shows, and the with the thirteen-episode mini-series' premiere getting closer with each week, fans are eager for any new information about The CW's midseason DC series. And now, despite the Televisions Critic Association Summer Press Tour wrapping up some time ago now, dclegendstv.com has released an interview they conducted with LoT executive producer, Phil Klemmer, at the event. While discussing various topics in relation to LoT, Klemmer revealed information on Hawkman and Hawkgirl's dynamic on the show, what its like to work with Ray Palmer/Atom following the release of Marvel's Ant-Man, and writing for the show. You can check out some of his comments below, and head here for the full interview.

On Bringing The Atom to weekly television following the release of Marvel's Ant-Man:
"The only challenge is how expensive his costume costs, and the danger that we actually injure him doing stunts, because his costume actually costs not just more than a car — more than, like, your average American home — so the scariest thing about Atom is I’m thinking, like, “when do you use a digital double, and when do you use Brandon?” I mean, obviously Brandon is irreplaceable. I loved Ant-Man and I love Paul Rudd, and I think he’s a hilarious guy, but to me, they’re just such different people — the fact that they share a crossover of powers… it also helped that I was thinking about Legends of Tomorrow before I ever saw Ant-Man. I mean, if I hadn’t started to write this first, I just never would have seen that, because you don’t want to be contaminated with another pre-existing idea. To me, Ray is a billionaire do-gooder with a secret and Paul Rudd (Scott Lang) is like a wisecracking cat burglar. So aside from the fact that they shrink, I don’t see a whole lot of overlap".

On the Hawkgirl/Hawkman dynamic:
"they’ve obviously been reincarnated through the ages together, but the fact that he remembers their previous lives and she doesn’t… it gives them very much like a Bogie & Bacall sort of [relationship]".
"They’re constantly fighting, and the fact that they’re destined to be in love is something that seems impossible to her.

That’s the kind of sentimentality that we really strive to avoid on this show. The fact that they’re going to be together someday, we try desperately at every moment to disprove that, this is going to be the one time that they decide to, like, shoot each other in the face".

What do you guys think? Do you share Klemmer's view of Ant-Man and Atom not having any real similarities? Are you excited for Hawkman/Hawkgirl, and how they are handling the two characters? As always, let me know in the comments, and don't forget to share and hit that thumbs up!

I think the expenses must come from the fact that The A.T.O.M. suit in Arrow was made to be mostly practical over CGI

Injure him doing stunts? Are they miniaturizing Routh with the CW's secret shrink Ray? Worried that a giant prop iPhone might fall over and crush him? And if that ugly ass costume costs over a hundred thousand dollars why does it look like plastic?

Why couldn't WB just let them use Blue Beetle? "Eh, we'll just call him Ray Palmer." "The Atom? Then shouldn't he be a science professor? And he'll have to shrink eventually." "I already printed out the script. He's a billionaire who runs a tech company and wants to fight crime." "Okaaay... Hey, let's give him an Iron Man-type suit, except it doesn't work right!" "And he's a charming ladies' man, but also kind of a doofus!" "Done! Let's go get tacos."

We know OMAC exists in this universe, because ATOM is based on that suit, so I'd enjoy seeing someone become OMAC. It would be pretty cool to see Buddy Black the janitor cleaning Palmer Tech and happen to find the OMAC prototype. Then he becomes the One Man Army Corps like he is in the comics, with the kick butt mohawk.

There's nothing on God's green Earth that will make this knock-off Iron Man cooler than Ant-Man. Klemmer's tripping on acid like Arrow and Flash writers.

Why in the world does that doofy looking costume cost more than an average house? Maybe he means more than an average house in Detroit? lol.
