LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Star Brandon Routh Says Goodbye To The Arrowverse As He Finishes His Final Day Of Filming

Brandon Routh is officially set to say goodbye to the Arrowverse in the upcoming fifth season of Legends of Tomorrow, and now the actor has shared a heartfelt message as he finishes his last day of film.

It was during the third season of Arrow that Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer made his grand debut, and since then he has become a major player in the Arrowverse, becoming a mainstay on Legends of Tomorrow. But after five seasons with the time-traveling team of heroes, Routh will officially exit the show.

While this means fans still have a few months until they have to say goodbye to Ray Palmer, Routh recently took to Instagram to announce that he has finished his final day of filming on the DC Comics series.

In his post, which includes a photo from what we presume is his final day in the Atom suit, Routh shared a heartfelt message where he expressed his love for the entire cast and crew.

“My final day of filming with my #LegendsFamily,” Routh writes. “I love you all & appreciate the 5 seasons we’ve spent together. It hasn’t always been easy, but I think that’s what makes it harder to leave — getting through the growing pains of the first few seasons has bonded us. And made the last three seasons a blast!”

Although the upcoming fifth season of Legends of Tomorrow will see Routh bid farewell to his time as Ray Palmer, fans of the Arrowverse will also be able watch as the Superman Returns star takes up the role of Clark Kent once more for the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover that kicks off this December.

The fifth season of Legends of Tomorrow is expected to premiere January 2020 on The CW network.

@dracula - they've been filming Legends for some time now, I think he leaves half way through season 5.

@dracula - He was on Chuck, and ironically he could have made a good Batman too judging by that character.

Big loss right here, there is going to be a big vacuum in the show when Ray departs. Routh has done a great job, always a pleasure watching him. 2 seasons on Arrow and 5 seasons of Legends, farewell Ray.

Come on CW, fill the soon-to-be Ray shaped hole in our hearts with Ralph.

@Reeds2Much - People like that character?! He’s the reason I stopped watching Flash I couldn’t stand him that much

@Ha1frican - Considering Wally was pretty bland too and Legends managed to make him interesting i'm not totally against that.

Though i'd rather see Killer Frost joining them

Never watched Legends of Tomorrow but from what I've seen of the Atom from Arrow, I'm not a fan of how they handled the character. Basically just a rip-off Iron Man who shrinks from time to time.

At least Routh got to play Supes one last time. Though it would be awesome if it wasn't the last.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Check out season 2 and 3 of legends the best the arrowverse has to offer in my opinion!

@kider - Yeah, I've heard a lot of good things. Now that Arrow's ending, I'll probably start it for my fill.

Why do people want a sequel to superman returns, it made no sense, he picked up an island of kryptonite, how could he do then? When moments before, he couldnt even stand on it, hes good but screaw that.

His quirkiness on the show will be missed.
