PEACEMAKER Finally Reveals What The Deal Is With That Diary And Delivers A Big Cliffhanger - SPOILERS

Today's Peacemaker shed more light on those mysterious aliens, while also revealing what the deal is with the diary Amanda Waller has ordered her daughter to plant in Christopher Smith's trailer...

Early on in Peacemaker, we learned that Amanda Waller wanted her daughter, Leota Adebayo, to plant a diary in Christopher Smith's trailer. She carried out her orders, and while it looked like the situation had been resolved in today's episode of the HBO Max series, the mysterious alien Butterflies took over the police department and finally revealed the diary's contents to the world.

The diary, created by Waller and A.R.G.U.S., makes Peacemaker sound like a total lunatic who has been killing people because he's deluded and thinks the world is being taken over by aliens.

Clearly, Waller's plan was to cover up the existence of the Butterflies by framing Smith and making it look like the whole thing was just an unhinged vigilante going on a murder spree. That sounds like something Waller would do, and Peacemaker's reaction is a rather appropriate, "What the f**k?"

Elsewhere in the episode, we learned more about Murn being a Butterfly. Harcourt had already figured it out, but it turns out he's actually heroic in nature and not looking to conquer the world. Unfortunately, we still don't learn much more about them and whether they're tied to any specific aliens from the comic books (we've yet to figure out their identities, anyway).

There are now only two episodes of the HBO Max series left, so answers have to be on the way. Next week, though, it seems the stage is being set for Peacemaker to square off with The White Dragon.

What did you think about today's episode of Peacemaker

@Cap1 - woah woah woah. Without Favreau, Filoni doesn’t escape animation. Favreau is really the true savior of SW right now. Period, IMO. I love you Cappy, but don’t ever leave the man who INVENTED the tonal formula that Feige has aped for his quatrillion dollar studio ever since.

Peacemaker is the crown jewel of the DCEU. Might be that way for a while, this show is so goddamn good.

@regularmovieguy - I thought Gunn might struggle with the transition to TV but his plotting n writing has been immaculate. Never a dull moment, be very sad when my Thursdays are not blessed with this

@Cap1 - ya he’s only gotten better and better at characterization. I’m officially hyped for Guardians 3 cuz I think he’s going to do all he can to push Feige to let him get away with things he simply couldn’t in the last two.

Great show, great showcase for John Cena, who's nailing every note in a character that ended up being way more interesting than I would expect him to be after The Suicide Squad (in which I enjoyed him anyway). I wonder if Goff was telling the truth and Murn is lying; it would be weird just to throw away that whole "peace" scene, so I think there's still a revelation or two on that thread.

I'm kinda bummed we basically lost the police couple, I liked them both.
I think there's something else going on with Murn and the butterflies, Judo Master was about to say something about them and then he got shot, something smells of red herring.

Another good episode, but man was Vigilante extra annoying. Cena is really showing range lately and this is getting up for a big finish to the season.

This was one of the weaker episodes for me. Hoping for a big finish.
