PEACEMAKER Star John Cena Explains Why He Was "Grateful" For Those Massive Cameos - SPOILERS

The season finale of Peacemaker featured a couple of pretty major cameos, and in a new interview, star John Cena explains why he was so grateful that the actors in question got involved.

We had a feeling the season finale of Peacemaker would contain a few surprises since the episode in question was not made available to critics prior to the show's release, but it's probably safe to assume nobody expected the freakin' Justice League to show up!

Having completed their mission (for better or worse), Christopher Smith and his crew are rushing the gravely wounded Harcourt to the hospital when they spot members of the iconic super-team ahead. Wonder Woman and Superman are kept in the shadows, but Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller both appear as Aquaman and The Flash for a memorable - not to mention F-bomb laden - exchange with the Peacemaker.

During an interview with Fandom.com, star John Cena explained that he was so grateful for the actors' involvement because he feels an appearance from a pair of heavy hitters like Arthur Curry and Barry Allen raises the show and its characters to another level in the DCEU.

“I’m forever grateful [to Momoa and Miller], because they did us a huge solid by doing that," said the former WWE Champion. "And they were able to put themselves in the limelight and get everybody talking, but they do so in a way where the joke’s not on them. And they did it for the good of our show. Whether that was their intention or not, it really, really, really, really helped us, especially after eight episodes of people being excited about the show, to put a stamp on it. It lets everybody know that there’s a new player in the DC Universe and that this is what’s going on. ‘These folks are now on an equal playing field, wow!’"

"That’s my takeaway from that," he continued. "I think that was a very important moment for us. And of course, it gives everybody a whole lot of stuff to talk about and James Gunn is really good about making people talk about stuff! So mission accomplished in that regard.”

Peacemaker was recently renewed for a second season, but we have no idea what to expect from the continuing adventure of Chris Smith, and Cena is happy not to speculate and let James Gunn come up with the right story.

“The short answer is no," he replied when asked if he had any specific thoughts or ideas for where his character could go next. "Because I know I’m in good hands and I trust the process."

What did you guys think of the first season of Peacemaker and those huge cameos? How would you like to see season 2 play out? Drop us a comment down below.

Well put.

I still remember when people were making fun of Cena just because they could only see him as a wrestler and not an actor so he had no business playing Captain Mar-errr Shazam!

Started from the bottom now we here.

@Doomsday8888 - Nothing against Levi, he is good in the role, but Cena would've killed it.

Heh, low hanging fruit.

no one cared, really, no one, It didn't have the repercussion that perhaps James Gunn and WB expected., because 80% DC fans themselves hate Momoa and Erza Miller

@Fanmar16 - I know people on this site seem to hate Miller, but now Momoa too? What's wrong with him?

It really did have huge repercussions, I mean, dc fans started talking about those cameos everywhere, even certain fanatics started talking about it and bad publicity is still publicity, so they pulled it off. Plus it was nice seeing momoa again, great job overall.

Loved the twist on his Nazi father, loved the setup for Peacemaker really losing his shit next season.
I still kinda hope for a more 'serious' take on Peacemaker and the Charlton Action Heroes one day but until then I legitimately can't believe how much I loved the show, and can't wait to see what they bring next season.

Last night on Bill Maher's show, Maher did a great takedown of Cena & Lebron for their cowardice regarding China. It was beautiful & Cena deserved all of it!

@PartyKiller - Cena seems like a nice guy, but that whole thing about Taiwan...WOW.

Still, Maher and the rest of the industry where sucking the CCP's dick until 5 minutes ago.

@TheLobster - Maher is a true liberal. It's others in the democrat party who are in love with communism and totalitarianism and are anti-liberty.

Cena is such a nice humble dude. Even though I’m mixed (at best) on Peacemaker - I’m happy for Cena.

It was funny, and I liked seeing Momoa and Miller (even though I'm not a fan of Miller in the role). But I thought that faceless Superman floating around was so awkward. These DCEU movies have made such a big deal about him being the focal point the universe revolves around, but with Henry Cavill out of the picture and WB making no obvious moves to recast or do something with the character. It all just feels weird.

I like the implication that the League knows him, which means maybe not every single thing he said about them was bullshit.

Anyway, Snyder fanboys are sending death threats to James Gunn on Twitter...I'm so [frick]ing done with these people, I like Snyder's JL, but making that movie was a mistake...and I support Ray Fisher, but he needs to stop feeding them, even Snyder himself did.

The fact that WB continues to shaft Cavill is very telling of Superman in general. They would rather continue using Ezra Miller as The Flash instead of reigniting the demand that Superman has.

OT: Looks like Cyborg and Batman were cut from that final scene, there was a stand-in with the Batman suit.
