At long last, Superman & Lois is finally back on the air and the premiere didn't disappoint as we caught up with the Kent family and their trusted allies, before all hell broke loose and the Man of Steel found himself up against a handful of extremely dangerous villains.

In the show's timeline, only about a month has passed since Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) built the new Fortress of Solitude, but pretty much everyone has seen important growth in their respective lives, but, as always, darkness is looming right around the corner as Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) begins her investigation into Bruno Mannheim (Chad L. Coleman).

However, before she can get too deep, she learns that she might be pregnant and that's at the top of her mind for the rest of the hour. Elsewhere, during a summer cookout, Atom-Man (Paul Lazenby) attacks Metropolis, which results in Superman rushing to action, and shockingly, things don't go his way initially until an unnamed assassin takes out the evildoer. Clark isn't even able to track him down before another villain - Onomatopoeia - attacks and confuses the Last Son of Krypton before making an escape with Atom-Man's corpse.

In the morning, we learn that Lois isn't actually pregnant, but is instead experiencing some unexplained health symptoms that will require further testing. And finally, Bruno Mannheim makes an appearance, as he and Onomatopoeia resurrect Atom-Man, and plot something nefarious.

Next week, Clark and Chrissy (Sofia Hasmik) do their best to comfort Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) as she tries to uncover what's going on with her. Meanwhile, Lana (Emmanuelle Chirqui) gets a distressing phone call, and finally, Jordan (Alex Garfin) and Sarah (Inde Navarette) continue their awkward dance into the friend zone.

Check out the new trailer below:

"Uncontrollable Forces" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, LV) (HDTV)

That S3 premiere was good. Like extremely good.

This show is at its worst when it takes itself too seriously, but that season opener had a good balance of drama and lighthearted moments.

And the CGI (for a basic cable show) was awesome lol.

Good premiere. I don't think I liked it as much as the s2 premiere, but it was quite good. And great to have such an excellent show back. Seeing Supes in action is always an absolute pleasure. Also, the new Johnathan actor is very good.

1.Great return
2.New Jonathan might be better than the last guy
3.Never expected Onamatopeia but awesome
4.Have a feeling John Henry’s sister has something to do with Bruno

@dracula - new Jonathan barely spoke and he’s already better than the last one.

@TheNewYorker - yeah what little we saw of him feels a bit more natural compared to the last guy

@dracula - Does anyone else think that Onomatopoeia has a female body shape? Perhaps the medical and scientific knowledge of Dr. Irons can be useful for Bruno's interests. So she's the mastermind behind Bruno's experiments on superhuman potential and she's also the woman under the hood.

This show is way too good for a CW.

This show is hilarious cause apparently to weaken Superman you don’t need kryptonite you just get Lois to have sex with him and he’s tired and out of breath. 🤣🤷‍♂️

@AnthonyVonGeek - takes a lot of power to make sure for him to not break her in half. Restraint, my man. Lol. One thrust too strong, she be no more.

I think Metallo could fit as a villain this season. He may be a consequence between Bruno's collaboration and the late Irons.

Also, Bruno as an arms dealer could get Kryptonite on the black market.

Just keep the anchillary characters under control. We don't need 20 super powered characters blipping about, like Flash, which is so choked up by people who can fire sunlight or whatever the main character barely does/needs to/can do anything. S&L has done well with a power hieracrhy that clearly, clearly keeps Superman right at the top; something Supergirl, Stargirl, plenty of other comparible shows quickly gave up on.
