SUPERMAN & LOIS Season 4 Synopsis Teases Lex Luthor's Master Plan And Superman's Battle With Doomsday

The CW has released the synopsis for Superman & Lois season 4 and, while it once again keeps the outcome of the Man of Steel's battle with Doomsday under wraps, we do get a better idea of what to expect...

Earlier this week, we brought you the official synopses for Superman & Lois' upcoming two-part premiere. Now, that's been followed by a synopsis for the entire fourth season!

This one sheds more light on Lex Luthor's twisted master plan and what we can expect from supporting characters like John Henry Irons, Chrissy Beppo, and Kyle Cushing. As for the Man of Steel himself, all we learn here is that he's "locked in a ferocious, moon-wrecking battle" with Doomsday.

If The CW is planning to adapt the Death and Resurrection of Superman from the comics, we're not exactly shocked his role in this fourth and final season is being kept under wraps.

Here's the full Superman & Lois season 4 synopsis:

Season four of SUPERMAN & LOIS picks up right where last season left off: with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Luthor’s monster locked in a ferocious, moon-wrecking battle, as Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) fights for his life against the seemingly unstoppable creature. Back on the ground, General Lane (guest star Dylan Walsh) struggles to stay alive after being kidnapped by Luthor’s henchmen, while Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch), Jordan (Alex Garfin), and Jonathan (Michael Bishop) race against time to rescue him.

But standing in their way is Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) himself, who has permanently moved to Smallville as the next step in his malicious plan to destroy Lois Lane. Meanwhile, Lana Lang (guest star Emanuelle Chriqui) uses her position as Mayor to fight back against Luthor’s schemes, a move which puts her in the sights of the most dangerous man in the world and threatens everything she holds dear. This includes her relationship with John Henry Irons (guest star Wolé Parks), who must put his Ironworks plans on hold and rejoin the DOD, now that General Lane is missing.

But they aren’t the only duo in trouble, as Chrissy Beppo (guest star Sofia Hasmik) and Kyle Cushing (guest star Eric Valdez) face an uphill battle of their own, with countless roadblocks that threaten to ruin their future together. Amid all the chaos, Sarah Cortez (guest star Inde Navarette) and Natalie Irons (guest star Tayler Buck) also join the fight against Luthor, while both facing impossible decisions about their paths in life. And as Clark’s battle with the terrifying monster continues, Lois, her boys, and the world must face an unthinkable possibility: what if Superman never returns?

Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman, Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, Alex Garfin as Jordan Kent, Michael Bishop as Jonathan Kent, and Michael Cudlitz as Lex Luthor.

Based on the characters from DC Comics created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, SUPERMAN & LOIS is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter, Brent Fletcher, Todd Helbing, Sarah Schechter and Greg Berlanti.

Superman & Lois season 4 premieres on The CW with two episodes on October 7.

Can't wait for this series to be off the air and Gunn to give us a true Superman series.

I just don't understand the hate, do I wish Lex didn't have a beard? Yes, but he's perfectly casted. This show is gold and it's unfortunate that it doesn't get the praise it truly deserves from the fan base.

@Whoelsebutkevin - Its a great show. It's just stuck on CW unfortunately. If it were an HBO show it'd get the praise it deserves.

@Whoelsebutkevin - I think you are underestimating the fanbase. I've heard/read mostly all positivity about the show. I think it's miles above the arrow-verse shows and one of the best comicbook shows ever made... next to FX's Legion.

@shhimpeeing - like DOOM PATROL should have? That show was SO highly underrated.

@Matador - I don't hate how he looks, I suppose I'm just used to my Lex without facial hair. Him with zero hair was always such a badass look. But I'm still extremely satisfied.

@Whoelsebutkevin - I don't really like the casting, or the weird rock and roll sting they gave him at the end of season 3, and would prefer more a connection to the wider universe, in some ways, but also, I can live with it overall.

@Whoelsebutkevin - ON the plus side Lex isn't kooky or fat like in the yester years Smallville Lex was great but BvS stepdown.

@shhimpeeing - HBO would never take on a comic book show that is all about good vs evil. As a matter of fact they would never take ANY comic book show that doesn't have that overrated morally grey barometer that most of their products must have before they decide to back it up. Why you think the only one they have ever done was that kinda-sequel of Watchmen in 2019? Or why do you think they're doing Penguin? Because it's all about anti-heroes in the end. Not heroes and villains. Anti-heroes.

Look at Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. The Sopranos. True Detective. Rome, etc. All they care about is the color grey and exploring "flawed, complex" characters. A character like Superman is the very last thing they'd adapt.

Why do you think they're doing that Lanterns show? Because it's gonna be some gritty and grounded True-Detective-themed (limited?) series. And tbh I'm gonna call something from now: that Paradise show that Gunn has described as being "in the vein of GoT" WILL go to HBO. Most likely because they'll want to get some of those Emmy noms thing too at some point.

Broadcast channel networks like The CW (the previous one, not the one ran by these Nextar schmucks) or the defunct DC Universe app were the only place where we were ever gonna get faithful and colorful-like adaptations like this. It's a fact by now when you look back at how things have been up to the date.

This is BY FAR the best of all the CW series. But it's still mediocre stuff.

I will be glad when the CW & Berlanti are never again part of crapping all over DC comics.

Sounds good!!.

We only got him for a couple of episodes last season but he made a strong impression regardless so can’t wait to see more of Michael Cudlitz’s physically imposing , darker and more vengeful take on Lex (he feels Kingpin-esque tbh).

Anyway , still bummed about this prematurely ending but hopefully they wrap it up well since this has been imo the best Superman live action content we’ve had in awhile.

Makes sense John Henry covers for Sam when he is AWOL.

Someone like Luthor probably doesn't get so easily intimidated by a Mayor of a small town flexing her powers against him, I guess.

Maybe one of the things he will try to do in Smallville during his stay is to shut down the Smallville Gazette so Lois loses her work environment.

“What if Superman never returns?” would be crazy that he's gone half the Season but that it’s because some alien race picked him up so he can recover and even learns some kind of new tricks that makes him go blue (like in the My Adventures with Superman) or red to save the day before the series finale.
