Everybody runs.

Back in September, it was revealed that Fox was developing a sequel series to their hit film, Minority Report, and now The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the series has been officially picked up to pilot by Fox. The sci-fi drama, which was described as one of the hottest scripts heading into pilot season, will pick up 10 years after John Anderton ended Precrime in Washington D.C., and will follow one of the three Precogs, presumably one of the twins, who is struggling to lead a "normal" human life as he remains haunted by visions of the future. He'll end up crossing paths with a female detective haunted by her past and who might just be the one person that can help him find a purpose to his gift.

Max Borenstein (Godzilla) wrote the pilot and will also serve as an executive producer alongside Steven Spielberg, Justin Falvey, and Darryl Frank. Fox has tapped Kevin Falls (The West Wing; Franklin & Bash) to be the series showrunner.

The original Academy Award nominated film, which was loosely based on a short story of the same name by Philip K. Dick, was directed by the acclaimed Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park) and starred superstar Tom Cruise (Edge of Tomorrow) in the lead role with Max von Sydow (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Colin Farrell (Total Recall), and Samantha Morton (John Carter) in supporting parts.

As an additional note, this will be the second Tom Cruise film that received a sequel in the form of a television series, the first being The Firm, which was adapted into a sequel series by NBC and was later cancelled after one season.

Sounds promising, especially with Borenstein's possible involvement.

Good movie.

No one asked for a TV show for a movie that was released twelve years ago though.

If they're going to turn one of Dick's books into a series it should be "A Scanner Darkly." That book is amazing and the movie was damn good too.

Not sure why either. Top Gun would probably make a better show.

People ask why.. It's simply because in 2015 you can easily recreate the effects from the 2002 movie on a 12 year olds basement pc.

Just put Kim Kardashian in it and it'll go for 9 seasons. No plot necessary, just like all those stupid reality tv shows.

The movie was cool. Had some cool tech in it. A show could be real cool showing more of the future.
Fox will cancel though. They always cancel good shows.

The movie wasn't terrible, but if they were to do a series based on the material - they'd be smarter to include the precrime and how it was formed, and how it established itself...all events leading up to Cruise's character's involvement.

Making a series about what happens AFTER he destroys precrime doesn't make a whole lot of sense. That was the whole point of the movie - how precrime works and the consequences around it. Stretching a weak plot about the after-effects of a life back in the "stone age" of crime (pre-precrime) just smacks of "THIS WILL FAIL ALL OVER THE PLACE".

A prequel type series would be one worth watching. A sequel series is just another crime show that are a dime a dozen, 'cept it will be in the future.

Yawn. Pass.

I'm looking forward to yet another go 'round on the 'Fox Sci-Fi Show Cavalcade of Ineptitude'! Not sure if it's the meandering directionless opening episodes (caused by Fox Execs running episodes out of order), the scripts over-reaching their budget or falling in love with it just in time for it to be cancelled that I'm most looking forward to! How about you give a show a legitimate chance (Almost Human, Firefly..) before running it into the dirt and buying up another cool concept to eff up. I think the real crime here is the stories they're robbing us of by not allowing another more interested network to develop these shows. Such a waste.
