GAME OF THRONES: A Character Makes His Long-Awaited Return In This New Season 7 Set Video

As the seventh season of HBO's Game of Thrones continues to shoot in Spain, a new set video has emerged confirming the return of a character we haven't seen since season 3. Click on to take a look...

Former blacksmith, bastard son of Robert Baratheon, and surely an Olympic-level rower at this stage - Gendry (Joe Dempsie) will make his triumphant return in season 7 of Game of Thrones.

The video below captures a scene that was shot yesterday on Muriola Beach in Barrika, and features Tyrion, Davos (there's the Jon/Dany alliance seemingly confirmed anyway) and Gendry escaping from a pair of Goldcloaks. It's been quite a while since we've seen Arya's former best bud, and it looks like young Gendry has become as adept at swinging a warhammer as his late father was in his prime.

Check out the vid and a breakdown of the scene courtesy of WatchersOnTheWall.com.

Davos and Gendry are together preparing the boat to leave when two gold cloaks approach. Davos demonstrates that the boat is innocently empty by pulling back the tarp. He appears to then bribe the gold cloaks, who turn to leave, but just then Tyrion appears. The gold cloaks see Tyrion and come back- perhaps they recognize him or suspect he’s Tyrion Lannister, the most famous dwarf in the world? Davos tries to talk to them again but but the guards are grabbing at their swords. That’s when Gendry intervenes, picks up his warhammer (!) from the boat and striking them down from behind. Then Davos, Tyrion, and Gendry push the boat offshore and get the hell out of dodge.

As much as I liked his character, he might be brought back just to end his character arc/get killed off. He has a claim to the Iron Throne, but has no army, no houses that will support him, he is coming back just as an epic Shyt Storm is hitting Westeros (rumored Euron Greyjoy teaming up with Cersie, Dorne and High Garden forming an alliance with Dany and the Northern folks prepping for the White Walker invasion). I def feel he will meet his end this upcoming season.

They're already filming??? I thought they were taking a year long break to allow George R.R. Martin to catch up.

@McGee - they said no such thing. They've already foreseen the possibility that George R.R. Martin would still be writing and the show would go past them, back when they were still developing the show.

They got the basic outline of what GRRM is doing, even the ending. How they approach that ending is different. They just started filming later to get more authentic colder settings, since well....Winter has come.

@sKeemAn - And Shaggy Dog, Walder Frey, Frey's sons Balon Greyjoy, Blackfish, Osha. Bringing a character back after several seasons of an absence is not good lol.

@BlackHulk - Hey now, we still got Thoros and Beric! And the show has definetly shown they're not going with Lady Stoneheart, so Beric's sticking around for now

Its messed up that I want months to go by so I can enjoy shows and movies. I'm rushing my whole life based on this stuff lol. Before I know it, I'll be 40 and the only thing I'll look forward to is when Avenger 6 comes out, in 8 months or the prequel to the GOT prequel.
