UPDATE: First Clips From GAME OF THRONES Season Five

The raven has sent its final visions, but because the three-eyed little bastard only sends them to mobile devices, the quality is pretty poor. Still, if you fancy seeing early glimpses of two scenes.

That pesky 3-eyed raven has brought our final Game Of Thrones visions before the season 5 première on April 12. The first is a snippet of a conversation between Brienne of Tarth and her squire Podrick Payne, and the second is a longer scene featuring Jon Snow attempting to persuade Mance Rayder to do something (which book readers should be able to hazard a guess at) that he thinks will hurt his pride. They are pretty lousy quality, but we'll update if and when better versions become available.

No, she's exactly like that in the book.

Also, what's wrong with them making a woman one of the best fighters in the show? Can't imagine anyone having a problem with that...unless they had a problem with women.

@ckal

Really? I'm not picking up on that. As someone's who not read the books, my knowledge of this universe is not as expansive as yours may be.

In my opinion, they're done a fantastic job making her the way she is; showing her vulnerabilities, hinting that her coldness is rooted in some unspoken hardship. She represents and encourages going against the norm, which I quite enjoy.

@rormachine your outta your mind...what a dumb comment to assume someone has a problem with women. Its clearly genetics. Are their outliers, maybe? But to have a woman overpower warriors is just absurd.

@ckal to be fair, Sandor was sick and not in the best physical and mental state to deal with Brienne and he basically beat the shit out of her until she leveled the playing field by using her own dirty tactics. I do agree with you though.

What @ckal is saying is correct. Brienne never elevated to the status she is in the show.They've made her much stronger than her character in the books.I'm curious as to why and what she has to do with the endgame. Why make her so important?

@RorMachine

No, she is not the same character as in the books at all. They saw to that the moment they had her kill some random Northern soldiers, the last one in a sadistic, brutal style for the sake of it. Book Brienne is every bit as Sansa as she is Arya. Being a massive, decent fighter =/= brutal, vicious, bitter unpleasant woman, which she is what she is in the show.

Are you people seeing the same show as I am?

Brienne CLEARLY only beat Jaime in their sword fight because he was captive and weak. The final move was Jaime lunging at her and she easily blocked his blow and he fell to the ground exhausted. I think some fans of the books all expect something a little different. I have read the first two, and so far I think they've done an excellent job, but I also read them AFTER seeing the show

I also don't think her killing those Northern soldiers was some RANDOM act - the show has gone at great lengths to show in life, there is only grey- there is good nad evil on both sides - we've mostly seen Lannister soldiers acting like rude a-holes, but showing Northmen capable of an equal evil is a way of showing how brutal this world is, and no mater how honorable a person is, they are surrounded by savagery. Also, she WANTED to kill them for stringing up the prostitute, but did not attempt to fight them until they recognized she had Jaime Lannister

Some people's "hazy" memories about these matters all because it pertains to a woman having a little too much power - She isn't MY favorite character, but she's cool, I liked her and Jaime's adventures, and I am looking forward to her and Pod - IDK where it will take them, best guess maybe pledging loyalty to Sansa?

Also - her fight against the Hound - I feel like most fights in the show are actually pretty even - and they aren't over until they are over - I thought Sandor was going to win until she grabbed that rock - Just because she won the fight, the producers aren't saying she is the better fighter - They had to kill a bunch of Lannister soldiers for a chicken to eat, I am pretty sure with that and his festering sounds he refused to treat, he probably was a step slower too, and he still almost won.

Oh yes! If I dislike show Brienne I am some wicked sexist and scared of her "power". Pft. I get sick of this trite whenever there is female character written and that accusation being tossed around. Didn't the Green Party have some silly anti-female prison policy?

Your points about the "greyness" and why she killed those Northern soldiers is all irrelevant to mine. I know what purpose those soldiers served and why she killed them. Having Brienne kill them and them sadistically kill the last one unnecessarily denotes her character to something much more simple and boring in my mind.

If I recall, she did not kill a man until AFFC and then it was poignant and character growth. In the show, she is a wholly unpleasant, bitter, brutal woman to me and that removes the fact that the character maintains the innocent and infactuation with chivarly and knights akin to a person like Sansa.

An actual personality juxtapositioning with the fighting abilities and muscle. And Brienne isn't even a top 10 character for me. In my opinion, those changes really denote the character to something much lesser (think of the killing change being akin to Tysha when you get there in ASOS). If you haven't read them all I see no point in trying to continue this considering your response was trying to explaining something any halfwit could have grasped and didn't relate to how much is differs from the books.

I would also say they done many crucial aspects of ACoK quite poorly (...Talisa...) for no good reason at all.

let it go man, ror hardly ever does any research into what he posts in his articles,, most of the time all the are are a simple copy and paste with a couple of shuffled sentences to make it seem original..

also, the three-eyed raven schtick that hbo has going on is not for mobile devices only, one had the chance to also subscribe with their email address so they could get a full sized video in their computer..

Brienne looks big and bad so I'm inclined to believe in her abilities on the field. Jennifer Garner as Elektra... not so much.
